Slang AI says its voice agent has handled 25 million calls from 10 million unique guests across more than 2,000 restaurant locations. The New York company was founded in 2019 by Alex Sambvani and Gabe Duncan, two former Spotify data scientists. Its product, Superhost, picks up the phone when hosts are busy or the restaurant is closed.
How It Works
Superhost answers calls around the clock, takes and changes reservations, answers common guest questions and recognizes returning guests. Requests that deserve a person’s attention, such as private dining, events and catering, are routed to the right member of staff. It connects to reservation and event systems including OpenTable, SevenRooms, Tripleseat and Yelp, so bookings land in the tools the front of house already uses.
Slang has been moving beyond voice. Its Premium plan added fully automated texting in April 2026, and the company has said it wants to handle guest follow-up after the visit as well. Bilingual English and Spanish support is offered, and the Premium Superhost tier is advertised with support for 97 languages. Texas de Brazil, Carmine’s, Founding Farmers and Riot Hospitality Group are among the named customers.
Pricing
Slang sells three plans, Core, Premium and Enterprise, priced per location per month. In October 2026 it stopped showing prices on its website and now asks visitors to request a quote. Before that change, Core was listed at $399 and Premium at $599 per location, with paid add-ons for Spanish support and private events. There is no free plan.
What to Watch Out For
Hidden pricing makes comparison harder, and newer rivals advertise lower monthly fees. A competing vendor reports that Slang does not post orders directly into a point-of-sale system, so restaurants that rely on phone takeout should test that workflow before signing. Figures such as up to 20 times return on investment and a 50% rise in phone reservations come from Slang itself. Multi-location groups should also budget for per-location fees adding up quickly.
Recent News
On February 24, 2026, Slang raised a $36 million Series B led by US Venture Partners, made up of $28 million in equity and $8 million in debt. The round brought total funding to $68 million, and the company said it would use it to extend its agent across more guest communications for restaurants, hotels and venues.
