Instantly AI Reply Agent Score

Our editorial score across six weighted criteria, based on Instantly AI Reply Agent’s published documentation, pricing and public user ratings. How we score

  • Autonomy9.0

In Autopilot the agent answers leads, handles objections, follows up and books Calendly meetings without approval, pausing itself when information or context is missing.

  • Ease of Setup9.0

Setup is an eight-step wizard inside Instantly with training notes and optional Slack and Calendly connections, and outreach has a 14-day no-card trial.

  • Pricing Value8.5

Plan and credit prices are published; the agent uses both an outreach plan and credits, and Autopilot starts on the $107 Hypergrowth plan.

  • Integrations8.3

The agent works with Instantly campaigns, Unibox, Calendly, Slack and CRM status, while the platform connects to Zapier, Make and Google Workspace.

  • Trust and Security8.0

Guardrails include approval mode, self-pausing when unsure, credit budgets, label triggers and a full Activity Feed; documenting agent-specific certifications would help buyers.

  • User Sentiment9.3

Instantly rates 4.8 from 4,136 G2 reviews, with cost and plan complexity the most common requests for improvement.

Instantly’s AI Reply Agent is the part of the Instantly cold email platform that answers your leads for you. It reads every reply to a campaign, responds in under five minutes at any hour, handles objections, sends follow-ups and books meetings through Calendly, either after your approval or entirely on autopilot. It is best for agencies, founders and sales teams already sending volume through Instantly whose replies sit unanswered for hours.

Pricing is published but layered: an outreach plan from $47 a month, plus credits at 5 per reply, and Autopilot only on the $107 Hypergrowth plan or above. The platform itself rates 4.8 from 4,136 G2 reviews. We rate the agent 8.8/10 on our scale. We have not used it hands-on; this review is based on Instantly’s help center, pricing and blog, and G2 review summaries.

Outreach From $47 Plus 5 Credits per Reply

  • Starting price: outreach from $47 a month plus credits; each reply uses 5 credits, and credits start at $9 for 150.
  • Speed: replies in under five minutes, 24 hours a day, by Instantly’s description.
  • Two modes: Human-in-the-Loop for approval of every reply, or Autopilot on Hypergrowth and higher plans.
  • Guardrails: pauses itself when unsure, monthly credit budgets, label triggers and a full Activity Feed.
  • Our score: 8.8/10, strong on autonomy and user sentiment; simpler pricing and use beyond Instantly campaigns would lift it further.

The five-minute response time is the reason to buy. Cold email replies go stale quickly, and a lead who gets an answer while still at their desk is more likely to book. An agent that never sleeps closes the gap between a reply at 11 p.m. and a sales rep who starts work at 9 a.m.

The credit arithmetic is the reason to plan. At 5 credits a reply, the 150-credit Nano plan covers 30 replies a month and the 5,000-credit Supersonic plan covers 1,000. Agencies with many client campaigns should size credits to reply volume, not to emails sent.

Campaign Replies Answered Inside the Unibox

The agent sits inside Instantly and works on replies to your outbound campaigns, which arrive in Instantly’s shared inbox, the Unibox.

Choosing Human-in-the-Loop or Autopilot Mode

  1. Create the agent: open Agents, choose Create New and pick AI Reply Agent.
  2. Choose a mode: Human-in-the-Loop, which Instantly recommends for new users, or Autopilot.
  3. Configure basics: follow-ups, out-of-office handling, objection handling and No-Show Recovery.
  4. Assign campaigns and inboxes: optionally filter by tags.
  5. Train it: describe your tone, product and goals, then use the Optimize suggestions.
  6. Connect tools: optionally link Slack for notifications and Calendly for booking.
  7. Set advanced rules: label triggers, a monthly credit budget and business-days-only follow-ups.

Answering Objections, Following Up and Booking Calls

  • Reads and answers replies from leads, including product questions and objections.
  • Sends follow-ups when a lead goes quiet, optionally on business days only.
  • Books meetings: with Calendly connected it sends booking links or books directly once the prospect confirms a time.
  • Recovers no-shows: leads labeled No Show get a first follow-up immediately, then after 24 hours, 48 hours and so on, with new times proposed.
  • Updates status: lead and CRM status change as conversations progress.

Guardrails and What Needs a Human

In Human-in-the-Loop mode, every reply waits in the Unibox for you to approve, edit or reject. In Autopilot, the agent pauses and asks for review when it lacks product information, the context is unclear or it is uncertain about the right response. A monthly credit budget stops automatic replies and follow-ups once spent, and label triggers let you include or exclude certain conversations, though you cannot use both trigger types at once. People still own pricing negotiations, contracts and anything the training notes do not cover.

Measuring the Agent

Instantly reports two numbers. Involvement Rate is how often the agent drafts a reply, and Resolution Rate is how often a draft goes out unedited. A sensible path is to run approval mode until Resolution Rate is consistently high for a campaign, then switch that campaign to Autopilot.

Writing Good Training Notes

The agent is only as good as what you tell it. Instantly’s training step asks for guidance on tone, product and goals, and the agent pauses for review when it lacks product information, so fuller notes mean fewer pauses and more specific replies. Before switching it on, write down the answers your best rep gives every week.

  • Product facts: what you sell, who it is for, what it costs or how pricing is quoted, and what it does not do.
  • Common objections: timing, budget, an existing vendor, and the short answer you want given to each.
  • Call to action: whether every interested lead should get a booking link, and which calendar to use.
  • Hand-off rules: topics the agent must never answer, such as contract terms, discounts or legal questions.
  • Tone: how formal to be, how long replies should run and whether to sign with a name.

A Sensible Autopilot Rollout

  1. Week one: run Human-in-the-Loop on a single campaign and edit drafts rather than rewriting them, so the gaps in your notes become obvious.
  2. Week two: update the training notes, then watch whether Resolution Rate rises.
  3. Week three: move that campaign to Autopilot with a monthly credit budget, and keep Slack notifications on.
  4. After that: add campaigns one at a time and keep sensitive ones, such as enterprise accounts or renewals, in approval mode.

Outreach Plans Plus Instantly Credits, All Public

Instantly publishes all of its prices. To use the agent you need an outreach plan for sending and Instantly Credits for the AI.

Add-ons include extra outreach volume at $87 a month for 25,000 contacts and 125,000 emails, and 50,000 extra credits for $425 a month. The outreach trial lasts 14 days with no card, and a free credits plan includes 100 credits.

A Founder’s $94 Month for 300 Approved Replies

A founder answering about 300 replies a month with approval. Outreach Growth at $47 plus Credits Growth at $47 for 1,500 credits comes to $94 a month, enough for 300 agent replies at 5 credits each.

An agency on Autopilot answering up to 1,000 replies a month. Autopilot needs Hypergrowth at $107, and 1,000 replies use 5,000 credits, which Supersonic covers at $97. That is $204 a month, or $2,448 a year before annual discounts.

A larger agency at 2,000 replies a month. That uses 10,000 credits, the entry point of Hyper Credits from $197. With Hypergrowth, the total starts at $304 a month.

Variable costs. Credits are also used by other Instantly features such as lead search, so the agent shares the pool. Drafts you reject may still use credits, depending on how Instantly applies the current rule. Calendly is a separate subscription.

Instantly AI Reply Agent Compared With Jason AI SDR, Alice by 11x and Ava by Artisan

These agents all work cold outreach, but Instantly’s agent focuses on the reply stage while the others also find leads and write first-touch sequences.

ToolStarting PriceFree PlanMain StrengthMain Trade-OffBest For
Instantly AI Reply Agent$47 per month plus creditsNo (trials only)Fast autopilot replies and Calendly booking inside a high-volume senderOnly answers replies; requires InstantlyTeams already sending cold email in Instantly
Jason AI SDR by Reply.io$500 per monthNoFinds leads, writes multichannel sequences and books meetingsHigh entry priceTeams that want a managed AI SDR
Alice by 11xCustom quoteNoFull outbound prospecting at enterprise scaleQuote-onlyLarger B2B sales teams
Ava by ArtisanCustom quoteNoAutomates prospecting and first-touch emailQuote-onlyB2B teams replacing SDR headcount

Instantly is the cheapest way to put an AI on replies if you already send through Instantly. Jason, Alice and Ava cost more because they also do the prospecting. Some teams run Instantly for sending and replies and use a separate tool for lead lists. See more on our sales agents and email agents pages.

A practical way to decide: if your bottleneck is answering the replies you already get, Instantly’s agent is the focused, lower-cost fix. If your bottleneck is finding and contacting the right people in the first place, an AI SDR such as Jason does more of the pipeline, starting at $500 a month compared with the $94 founder setup described in the pricing section above. Both can run in parallel if you prospect with one tool and send through another, but that adds a second bill and a second inbox to watch.

Cold Email Agencies and Founders Running Their Own Outbound

  • Cold email agencies: Hyper Credits can be used by sub-workspaces, and replies are handled across client inboxes.
  • Founders doing their own outbound: leads get answered at night and on weekends.
  • Sales teams with reply backlogs: the agent handles routine questions so reps focus on qualified calls.
  • Calendly users: booking and no-show recovery work directly with Calendly.

Non-Instantly Teams and Regular Inbox Users

  • Teams not on Instantly: the agent only works on Instantly campaigns.
  • People who want help with a normal inbox: tools such as Superhuman Mail or Fyxer fit work email better.
  • Regulated industries: autopilot replies about pricing or terms may need legal review.
  • Low-volume senders: a few replies a week may not need an agent.

How Agent Credits Are Counted and Other Checks

Read the credit rule closely. Instantly’s help center says the agent uses 5 credits once a reply is generated, whether you send, edit or use it. An October 2025 Instantly blog post said rejected drafts in approval mode cost nothing. Check the current behavior in your billing dashboard during the trial.

Autopilot speaks for your brand. Clear product notes help it avoid misstating pricing or promising features, and approval mode suits sensitive campaigns or conversations with unhappy leads. Review the Activity Feed daily at first.

Cold email itself carries rules. Make sure your campaigns follow anti-spam laws and the policies of your sending providers; a faster reply agent will not fix deliverability or consent problems.

Watch the hand-off. When the agent pauses or a lead asks for a human, someone has to pick the thread up quickly, or the five-minute advantage is lost. Route those alerts to Slack and agree who answers them during and outside working hours.

Finally, plan for the pricing structure. G2 reviewers praise ease of use, and the most common requests concern cost and a simpler plan structure and advanced settings. Map which plan includes which feature before you commit to annual billing.

Instantly Senders Should Switch It On

For teams already sending cold email through Instantly, yes. The AI Reply Agent scores 8.8/10 on our scale. It does real work with real prospects: answering within minutes, handling objections, following up and booking meetings, with sensible guardrails and published prices.

Simpler pricing, Autopilot on lower plans and use outside Instantly would lift the score. Start in Human-in-the-Loop on one campaign, track Resolution Rate and booked meetings for two weeks, then move proven campaigns to Autopilot with a credit budget in place.

Autopilot Replies, Trials and Meeting Booking

How Much Does Instantly’s AI Reply Agent Cost?

Each reply uses 5 credits. You also need an outreach plan from $47 a month and a credits plan from $9 a month for 150 credits. Autopilot needs Hypergrowth at $107 a month or higher.

Can the Instantly Agent Reply Without My Approval?

Yes, in Autopilot mode on Hypergrowth or higher plans. It pauses for review when it lacks information or is unsure. In Human-in-the-Loop mode every reply waits for approval.

Is There a Free Trial?

Yes. Instantly’s outreach plans have a 14-day trial with no card required, and a free credits plan includes 100 credits, enough for about 20 agent replies.

Can It Book Meetings?

Yes. With Calendly connected it sends booking links or books directly when a prospect confirms a time, and No-Show Recovery follows up after missed meetings.

Does It Work With My Regular Gmail Inbox?

No. It works on replies to Instantly campaigns, which arrive in Instantly’s Unibox from the sending accounts you connect.
