Legora Score

Our editorial score across six weighted criteria, based on Legora’s published documentation, pricing and public user ratings. How we score

  • Autonomy9.3

The agent clarifies the goal, proposes a plan and runs long tasks of 20 to 120 minutes across documents and platform functions, with human review at each step.

  • Ease of Setup7.5

Access starts with a sales demo and enterprise contract, and firms get the best results after building Skills and playbooks.

  • Pricing Value6.5

Prices are shared on request, and Agent Pro has billed on consumption credits since June 2026, with user caps and real-time usage dashboards to help control spend.

  • Integrations8.5

Word and Outlook add-ins, MCP connections, SSO and a dedicated integrations product cover daily legal tools, and Legora could publish more named system connectors.

  • Trust and Security9.5

Legora lists ISO 42001, ISO 27001 and SOC 2 Type II certification, BYOK encryption, access logs, matter isolation and no training on customer data.

  • User Sentiment7.5

No public ratings yet; neutral score.

Legora reached $5.55 billion in valuation in March 2026, less than two years after general availability, and says it passed $100 million in annual recurring revenue a month later. Over 1,000 law firms and enterprise legal teams now use its agentic workspace, from White & Case and Linklaters to Barclays’s legal team.

It is best for mid-size and large firms and legal departments that want one place for document review, research and drafting, with the security paperwork procurement teams expect: ISO 42001, ISO 27001 and SOC 2 Type II. Cost planning takes some work. Legora shares prices through sales, and since June 2026 its Agent Pro tier bills on consumption, so spend tracks how hard the agent works. We rate it 8.1/10 on our scale, with pricing transparency and public user ratings as the main areas to build on. We have not used Legora ourselves; this review is based on Legora’s own announcements, its security page, interviews with its executives and funding coverage.

Legora’s Climb Past $100 Million in Recurring Revenue

  • Legora says it grew from $1 million to more than $100 million in annual recurring revenue in about 18 months, with over 1,000 customers by April 2, 2026.
  • A $550 million Series D in March 2026, led by Accel, valued the company at $5.55 billion, up from $1.8 billion in October 2025.
  • The agent asks clarifying questions, proposes a plan and runs long tasks of 20 to 120 minutes, with human review at each step.
  • Pricing is quote-only; Agent Pro moved to consumption credits in June 2026, with user caps and spend tracking by matter.
  • Security documentation is strong: ISO 42001, ISO 27001, SOC 2 Type II, bring-your-own-key encryption and no training on customer data.

Funding Rounds and Growth Since the 2024 Launch

Legora’s growth since its 2024 launch is one of the fastest in legal software, and most of the hard figures come from its funding rounds and its own revenue announcement.

For a buyer, the numbers say two things. First, Legora is an established vendor: a customer base above 1,000 legal teams, a 400-person company and more than $800 million in disclosed funding across four rounds make it one of the two best-funded independent legal AI vendors, alongside Harvey. Second, the pace of change is fast. Legora rebranded in 2025, changed its pricing model in 2026 and has folded in three acquisitions, so the product you sign for may look different within a year.

The ISO 42001 certification is less common than SOC 2 among legal AI tools. It covers how a company governs its AI systems, which is the question many law firm risk committees now ask first.

One Agent Across Web, Word, Outlook and Mobile

Legora is a web workspace with add-ins for Microsoft Word and Outlook and a mobile app. It bundles several tools around one agent.

The Agent Loop

  • Goal: a lawyer describes what needs doing, such as reviewing a data room for change-of-control clauses or preparing a research memo, and attaches the relevant documents.
  • Clarify: the agent asks follow-up questions about scope, jurisdiction or output format.
  • Plan: it reviews the material and proposes a step-by-step plan. Legora’s chief revenue officer describes the plan as the prompt, so editing the plan is how lawyers steer the work.
  • Run: the agent executes the plan. Long tasks run from 20 to 120 minutes according to the company, with a human review point at each step.
  • Deliver: output lands as structured reports, tables or drafts that lawyers can edit in the workspace or in Word.

Legora aOS, its agentic operating layer launched in 2026, lets the agent use any function in the platform rather than a fixed set of tools. Before agents, Legora’s workflow builder handled fixed sequences of about five steps; the agent adapts its steps to the goal instead.

The Tools Around It

  • Tabular Review: bulk review and data extraction across large document sets, presented as a table.
  • Workflows, Skills and playbooks: repeatable firm processes and extraction templates that encode how the firm likes work done.
  • Legal Research and Monitors: research plus tracking of legal and regulatory changes, extended by the Graceview acquisition.
  • Word and Outlook add-ins: drafting, redlining and email work without leaving Microsoft Office.
  • Intake, Lists, Portal and Editor: tools for matter intake, structured lists, client-facing collaboration and document editing.
  • MCP connections: links to other systems, which Legora says need data governance guardrails.

Safeguards

Legora routes tasks between models, so not every request uses the newest and most expensive one. It also describes guardrails against prompt injection and isolates data by matter. Admins get SSO, configurable retention, access logs showing who viewed data and when, and bring-your-own-key encryption.

Strategy and Final Work Product Stay With Lawyers

Lawyers set the goal, approve the plan, review each step and own the final work product. The agent can read, extract, compare and draft at scale, but the judgment calls about strategy, risk and what goes to a client stay with the team. Firms also need someone to build and maintain the Skills and playbooks that make output match house style.

No Published Per-Seat Rate Under Leya or Legora

Legora sells through demos and enterprise contracts. Its pricing page does not list plans, and the company has never published a per-seat price under the Leya or Legora names, according to UsagePricing’s review of archived snapshots.

Legora’s chief revenue officer has explained the logic: per-seat licenses leave paid seats idle when lawyers are on holiday or in trial, while credits charge for work done. Credits blend document processing and model token usage rather than marking up raw model costs. The company says it reports usage weekly, monthly and in real time so firms avoid surprise bills, and it has hired a value engineering team to measure return on investment.

The Variables That Drive a Legora Bill

Because rates come with a quote, a buyer can model exact dollar costs after the demo. The variables that drive the bill are clear from the company’s own descriptions:

  • A transactional team running diligence: Tabular Review and agent runs across a large data room consume credits in proportion to document volume. A heavy deal month will cost more than a quiet one, so budget per matter and pass costs through where client terms allow.
  • A litigation group: long research and document review tasks of up to two hours each use more model capacity than short drafting prompts. Set user-level caps for associates while the firm learns typical usage.
  • A firm-wide rollout: consumption pricing avoids paying for seats that sit unused, which matters in firms where AI adoption is uneven across practice groups.

Ask in the demo for the credit rate card, how many credits common tasks use, whether unused credits roll over and what happens when a cap is hit mid-task.

Legora Compared With Harvey, CoCounsel Legal, Lexis+ with Protégé and Spellbook

Legora’s closest rival is Harvey; the two research publishers, Thomson Reuters and LexisNexis, compete with content as much as with AI.

Choose Legora over the publishers if your work is mostly document-heavy review and drafting rather than case law research, or if you want a vendor-neutral workspace that does not tie you to one research database. Choose CoCounsel Legal or Lexis+ with Protégé if citations to primary law are the core of your work. Harvey and Legora overlap most; compare them on your own documents in parallel pilots. More options are in our guides to AI agents for law firms and legal AI agents.

Mid-Size and Global Firms on Legora’s Customer List

  • Mid-size and large law firms: the customer list of over 1,000 firms and legal teams, led by global firms such as White & Case and Linklaters, shows the product is built for multi-office organizations.
  • Corporate legal departments: Barclays is a named customer, and the workspace suits teams reviewing large volumes of contracts or regulatory material.
  • Transactional and diligence teams: Tabular Review and long agent runs fit data room review and structured reporting.
  • Firms with demanding security reviews: ISO 42001, ISO 27001, SOC 2 Type II, BYOK and matter isolation give risk committees documentation to assess.
  • Firms with uneven AI adoption: consumption billing can cost less than paying for seats that some lawyers rarely use.

Solo Lawyers and Research-First Litigators

  • Solo lawyers and very small firms: there is no self-serve plan or published price, and tools such as Clio Work target smaller practices.
  • Research-first litigators: if your daily need is case law with citator checks, a Westlaw or Lexis product built on that content may fit better.
  • Firms that need fixed annual budgets: consumption billing for Agent Pro makes monthly cost vary with workload.
  • Plaintiff personal injury firms: specialist tools such as Eve, Supio and EvenUp are built around medical records, demands and case intake.
  • Teams that want public peer reviews before buying: Legora has no rated profile on the major review sites yet.

Rate Cards on Request and Agent Pro Credit Planning

  • Pricing on request: the rate card comes with a quote, so comparing Legora with rivals requires quotes from each.
  • Variable bills: Agent Pro credits rise with document volume and task length. Set user caps and matter budgets from day one and review the usage dashboard weekly.
  • Fast product change: a rebrand in 2025, a pricing model change in 2026 and three acquisitions mean features and terms may shift during your contract.
  • Vendor figures: revenue, customer and growth numbers come from Legora’s own statements and funding coverage.
  • Review burden: long agent runs produce a lot of output, and every piece that reaches a client or court still needs lawyer review.
  • Connections to other systems: MCP links to other tools widen what the agent can reach, so define data governance rules before turning them on.

A $550 Million Series D and New US Offices

A Shortlist Spot Next to Harvey for Larger Firms

For mid-size and large firms that want an agentic workspace backed by serious security documentation, Legora deserves a place on the shortlist next to Harvey. Its agent design, which plans first, asks questions and pauses for review at each step, matches how cautious firms want AI to behave. The growth to more than 1,000 customers and $100 million in recurring revenue shows many firms have already made that bet.

It scores 8.1/10 on our scale: high for autonomy and trust, lower for pricing value and with a neutral sentiment score because public ratings do not yet exist. The pricing score reflects the lack of a public rate card, not necessarily high cost. If you shortlist Legora, run a pilot on real matters, ask for the credit rate card and usage reports from the pilot, and compare the result against a Harvey or CoCounsel Legal quote for the same work.

Leya, Legora and What Happens to Client Documents

How Much Does Legora Cost?

Legora does not publish prices. Firms get a quote after a demo, and since June 2026 the Agent Pro tier is billed on consumption credits that combine document processing and model usage. Firms can set user-level caps and track spending by matter.

Was Legora Previously Called Leya?

Yes. The company started as Judilica, became Leya and rebranded to Legora in early 2025. It went through Y Combinator’s Winter 2024 batch and is now headquartered in New York.

Does Legora Train AI Models on Client Documents?

No. Legora’s security page states that it will not use customer data to train or fine-tune any AI models. It also lists ISO 42001, ISO 27001 and SOC 2 Type II certification, AES-256 encryption and bring-your-own-key options.

Is Legora Better Than Harvey?

They target the same buyers with similar agentic workspaces, and TechCrunch reported in March 2026 that their revenue trajectories were almost identical. Legora’s consumption pricing for Agent Pro and its ISO 42001 certification are differences to weigh; the best test is a side-by-side pilot on your own matters.

Which AI Model Does Legora Use?

TechCrunch reported in March 2026 that Legora is built mostly on Anthropic’s Claude models. The company routes tasks between models so that simpler work does not always run on the newest, most expensive model.
