Manus starts free with 300 credits a day and its Pro plan begins at $20 a month. It is a general-purpose AI agent: you describe a goal and it plans the steps, browses, writes code and returns finished work such as a research report, a slide deck, a website or a short video.
Meta agreed to buy Manus for a reported $2 billion in December 2025, but Chinese regulators ordered the deal reversed in April 2026. By August the Singapore company was operating independently again, with Tencent reported to be in talks for a large stake.
How It Works
Manus takes a prompt, breaks it into steps and works through them in its own cloud environment. For big jobs it can split one prompt across many sub-agents, which is how it handles large research projects or multi-page web apps. It chooses a model for each step, and users can bring their own API key. Outputs include research, slides, websites, images, videos and charts, and teams can build and host simple internal tools.
Manus runs in a browser, on desktop and on mobile, and can connect to Slack, Gmail, GitHub, Shopify and Meta’s ad tools. Team plans add shared projects, reusable skills, SSO and an opt-out from model training. The company lists SOC 2 Type II, ISO 27001 and ISO 27701 certifications.
Pricing
The free plan gives 300 refreshing credits a day, one task at a time and two scheduled automations. Pro starts at $20 a month for 4,000 credits, with a $40 tier for 8,000 credits that includes a seven-day trial. Team starts at $20 per seat per month. Annual billing cuts 17%. Credit use depends on task complexity, so heavy research or video work drains credits faster.
What to Watch Out For
The bigger risk is corporate rather than technical. The unwinding of the Meta deal led Manus to cancel some subscriptions started after December 29, 2025, issue prorated refunds and delete some users’ data in August 2026, with a two-day outage for affected regions. Final ownership was still unsettled at the time of writing. Businesses should keep their own copies of important work and check data terms before relying on it.
Recent News
Meta announced the acquisition in late December 2025. After China ordered it reversed, Meta cut Manus off from its internal systems in June 2026. In July, Tencent entered talks for a majority stake at the same $2 billion valuation, and in August Manus refunded and deleted data for some users as it separated from Meta.
