In October 2025 alone, Ramp says its AI made more than 26 million decisions across over $10 billion in spend and stopped 511,157 out-of-policy transactions worth about $291 million. Ramp sells corporate cards, bill pay and expense software, and its agents do much of the review work a finance team would otherwise do by hand.

Ramp is popular with startups because the base platform is free, which is why it appears here.

How It Works

The best-documented agent is Policy Agent. A finance team uploads its expense policy, or starts from Ramp’s template, and Ramp converts it into a structured document the agent can apply. The agent then reviews card transactions and reimbursements using merchant data, receipts, memos, attendees and trip details. For each expense it recommends approval, review or rejection and cites the policy text behind the call. If a workflow allows it, clearly compliant expenses are approved automatically, while unclear ones are flagged for a person. Employees can also text the agent to ask whether a purchase is allowed.

Other agents cover accounts payable and accounting. They gather context for invoice approvers, flag suspicious invoices, apply coding learned from past invoices across hundreds of line items, and scan for fraud, including AI-generated fakes. Autopay finds vendors that accept cards and pays them by card to earn cashback. Ramp also benchmarks software quotes against anonymized transactions and rebooks hotels when rates drop by $50 or more.

Pricing

Ramp’s Free plan costs nothing per user. Plus costs $15 per user per month plus a platform fee that depends on team size, with about 20% off for annual billing, according to third-party pricing guides. Policy Agent is a Plus feature. Enterprise pricing is quoted.

What to Watch Out For

The agents only work on spend that runs through Ramp, so adopting them means adopting Ramp. Free plan users do not get Policy Agent. Ramp recommends keeping the policy the agent reads to about 10 pages, and it can take up to 24 hours to review recent expenses after a change. Procurement agents were described as a roadmap item in June 2026.

Ramp added agents for controllers in July 2025 and for accounts payable that October, and in November it reached a $32 billion valuation.
