Canary Technologies says hotels miss up to 40% of their phone calls, and Canary AI Voice is built to catch them. It is a set of AI voice agents that answer front desk, concierge and reservations calls around the clock, confirm stays and take bookings, from a company whose guest management platform serves more than 20,000 hotels in over 100 countries. It is best for full-service and select-service hotels, and groups, that lose bookings and guest goodwill to unanswered phones, especially those already using Canary for check-in or messaging.
Pricing runs through Canary’s sales team, and the public figure is a $300 a month starting price listed by Hotel Tech Report, with no free plan or trial listed, so more published pricing would help buyers. Canary’s security credentials are stronger than most voice-bot vendors’, with AICPA SOC and PCI DSS v4 compliance, and the product won Best Hotel Voice Bot and Call Center Software in the 2026 HotelTechAwards. This review is based on Canary’s published announcements and third-party listings as of October 2026; we have not tested it hands-on.

Canary’s Customer Base Figures, More Than Voice Data

For a buyer, the customer base matters more than the voice product’s age. AI Voice launched in February 2025, but it runs inside a platform that already handles check-in, payments and messaging for more than 20,000 hotels, including several of the largest brands. That means brand-level security reviews have been passed before, which the SOC and PCI DSS v4 credentials confirm.
The 40% missed-call figure is Canary’s own, so measure your hotel’s rate before you buy. Phone system reports for a typical week will show how many calls go unanswered and when, which tells you whether a voice agent will pay back.
A Set of Agents for Each Kind of Hotel Call
Canary AI Voice is not one bot but a set of agents, each covering a type of call a hotel already gets. Calls that would ring out at a busy front desk or a closed reservations office are answered by the relevant agent.
The Four Voice Assistants
- AI Front Desk Assistant. Answers routine guest calls that would otherwise pull front desk staff away from guests standing in the lobby.
- AI Concierge Assistant. Handles questions about the property and the surrounding area around the clock.
- AI Central Reservations Assistant. Covers reservation calls, which matter most for revenue, including outside office hours.
- AI Booking Agent. Takes bookings by phone. Hotel Tech Report also lists AI reservation confirmation among the product’s features.
Hospitality AI Agent Studio
Since March 2026, hotels can configure and deploy their own agents in Agent Studio, which Canary describes as the first hospitality-specific AI agent builder. It offers templates for the front desk, concierge and central reservations, plus custom agents and workflows covering operations, reservations, sales and marketing. Agents can serve guests, staff, owners and partners, on property or above property, using Canary’s existing connections across the hotel tech stack. Canary has also launched an Agentic Sales Coordinator for hotel group and event sales.
Check-In, Messaging and Payments Around the Voice Agents
Voice is one part of Canary’s guest management system, which also includes digital check-in, AI guest messaging, AI webchat, payments and card authorization, upsells and digital tipping. For hotels already on Canary, the voice agents share the same guest and reservation context. Canary, co-founded by president SJ Sawhney, says it was the only hotel tech company named to Fast Company’s Most Innovative Companies list in 2023, and it has won Best Guest Experience Platform in the HotelTechAwards each year from 2024 to 2026. That track record in check-in and messaging is the main reason to consider its newer voice product over younger voice startups.
Complaints, Refunds and Group Deals Go to Staff
Staff still handle calls the agents route to them, unusual requests and anything involving judgment, such as complaints, refunds or group negotiations. Someone has to keep the hotel information the agents use current, including rates, policies, restaurant hours and local recommendations. Canary deploys AI Voice through its sales and onboarding teams rather than self-serve sign-up.
Sales-Led Pricing With a Third-Party Starting Figure
Canary does not sell AI Voice online. Based on Hotel Tech Report’s listing and Canary’s product structure, pricing looks like this:
| Plan | Price | Billing | What’s Included | Limits |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Canary AI Voice | From $300 a month (reported) | Subscription, quote-based | AI front desk, concierge, central reservations and booking agents; reservation confirmation | No free plan or trial reported |
| Hospitality AI Agent Studio | Custom quote | Contract | Templates and custom agents and workflows for operations, reservations, sales and marketing | Sales-led |
| Other Canary modules | Custom quote | Contract | Digital check-in, AI messaging and webchat, payments, upsells, digital tipping | Priced separately |
Missed Calls Versus $3,600 a Year for One Hotel
One full-service hotel. At the reported entry price, AI Voice costs $300 a month, or $3,600 a year. If the hotel takes 1,500 calls a month and misses 40% of them, the rate Canary cites, that is 600 unanswered calls a month. Recovering even a few room bookings from those calls could cover the monthly fee, but the math depends on your own missed-call rate and average booking value.
A 10-hotel group. Groups should expect a quote. As a rough ceiling check, the entry price across 10 properties would be $3,000 a month, or $36,000 a year. Ask whether a central reservations agent covering all properties is priced differently from per-hotel front desk agents.
Hidden and variable costs. Onboarding time for staff to set up hotel information and call routing; separate quotes for Agent Studio, messaging or check-in if you want them; and contract terms. Confirm call volume limits, contract length and cancellation terms before you sign.
Canary AI Voice Compared With HiJiffy, Goodcall and Retell AI
Hotels weighing a voice agent usually compare a hospitality platform, a general phone receptionist and a voice AI platform they configure themselves.
| Tool | Starting Price | Free Plan | Main Strength | Main Trade-Off | Best For |
|---|---|---|---|---|---|
| Canary AI Voice | From $300 a month (reported) | No | Hotel-specific voice agents inside a platform used by 20,000+ hotels, with SOC and PCI DSS v4 | Quote-based; trial not yet offered | Hotels and groups losing calls and bookings |
| HiJiffy | From €149.90 (reported) | No (free trial reported) | Hotel messaging AI in 130+ languages with 100+ hotel integrations | Messaging only, no phone answering | Hotels whose guests prefer chat and WhatsApp |
| Goodcall | $79 a month | No | Published prices for an always-on phone receptionist | Not built around hotel reservations systems | Small properties that mainly need calls answered |
| Retell AI | $0.07 per minute | No | Flexible voice agent platform billed by the minute | Hotels must build and integrate the agent themselves | Groups with developers or an agency partner |
Canary AI Voice is the most hotel-ready of the four: the agents are designed around front desk and reservations calls and come from a vendor already trusted by large brands. HiJiffy covers the messaging side and can pair with a voice tool. Goodcall is the low-cost option for small properties, and Retell AI suits groups that want to build their own voice agent. More options are on our travel agents and voice agents pages.
Busy Front Desks and Closed Reservation Offices
- Hotels with a busy or understaffed front desk: the front desk agent answers routine calls so staff can serve guests in person.
- Properties that lose reservation calls after hours: central reservations and booking agents answer around the clock.
- Existing Canary customers: the voice agents add to a check-in, messaging and payments platform you already run.
- Brand-affiliated hotels: Canary already works with properties from Marriott, IHG, Four Seasons, Choice, Wyndham and BWH, and holds SOC and PCI DSS v4 compliance.
- Groups with custom needs: Agent Studio lets you build agents for operations, sales and marketing; our customer support agents page lists related tools.
Small Inns and Hotels Whose Guests Rarely Call May Need Less
- Small inns and B&Bs on a tight budget: a general receptionist such as Goodcall, at $79 a month, may be enough.
- Hotels whose guests rarely call: a messaging tool such as HiJiffy may deliver more.
- Buyers who want to try before buying: no free plan or trial is listed.
- Groups with in-house developers who want full control: a voice platform such as Retell AI lets you build exactly what you need.
Confirm Per-Property Costs and Call Limits
- Quote-based pricing: the $300 a month figure is a starting point listed by a third party; confirm per-property costs, call volume limits and contract length.
- Vendor consolidation: voice agents work best alongside Canary’s other products, which puts more of your guest data and operations with one vendor.
- Vendor figures: the 40% missed-call rate is Canary’s estimate; measure your own before building a business case.
- Hotel information upkeep: the agents can only be as accurate as the rates, policies and local details you give them.
- Call recordings and data: Canary holds SOC and PCI DSS v4 compliance, but review how call recordings and guest details are stored and retained, especially for guests from regions with strict privacy laws.
- Fast product change: Agent Studio and the Agentic Sales Coordinator arrived within about a year of AI Voice, so features and packaging may shift.
Hospitality AI Agent Studio Arrives in March 2026
On March 3, 2026, Canary launched Hospitality AI Agent Studio, an agent builder with templates for front desk, concierge and central reservations and support for custom agents and workflows. The same announcement cited more than 20,000 hotels in over 100 countries and a study of more than 10 million guest AI interactions.
On February 5, 2025, Canary unveiled its end-to-end AI Voice platform with four assistants and cited research that hotels miss up to 40% of calls. In 2026 the product was named Best Hotel Voice Bot and Call Center Software in the HotelTechAwards.
Among the Strongest Hotel-Specific Voice Options
For hotels that lose calls and bookings to a busy front desk or a closed reservations office, Canary AI Voice is one of the strongest hotel-specific options, and it scores 8.5/10 on our scale. The agents map directly to the calls hotels get, the vendor serves more than 20,000 hotels including major brands, and SOC and PCI DSS v4 compliance clears the security bar that brand-affiliated properties face. Platform users on Capterra rate Canary 4.9 out of 5.
Published pricing and a free trial would lift the score; the current public figure is a $300 a month starting price from Hotel Tech Report. Before buying, pull a month of call data, count unanswered calls by hour and estimate the bookings they represent. If that number clears the quote, run a pilot on the front desk and reservations lines first. Compare more options on our travel agents page.
