About 2,000 publishers in more than 40 countries use Echobox to post their stories, according to the company, which says the platform handles about 40,000 stories a day. Customers named on its site include CNN, Sky News, Newsweek, News Corp, The Seattle Times and New Scientist.

Echobox takes over one of the most repetitive jobs in a newsroom: deciding which articles to share on social media, when, where and with what wording, and then publishing them. A second product does the same for email newsletters, so a small audience team can keep feeds and inboxes busy around the clock.

How It Works

Echobox Social scores stories and picks the timing, channel and framing of each post using performance data, which the company says relies on patented technology. It can run routine daily publishing on its own, including through breaking news and other high-volume periods when social editors are stretched. Echobox Studio produces visuals from reusable design templates so posts do not wait on a designer. Testimonials on the site mention Facebook, Instagram and TikTok, and software directories list Meta, LinkedIn and X integrations.

Echobox Email builds and sends personalized newsletters, with automation aimed at open and click rates as well as editorial workload. Realtime, Analytics and Benchmarks tools report on how content performs. Customer results on the vendor’s site include doubled Facebook traffic at Newsweek and 26 hours a day saved at The Philadelphia Inquirer; these are customer claims rather than independent tests.

Pricing

Echobox does not list prices on its site. Software directories describe per-user pricing and send buyers to the company for a quote. Members of the Institute for Nonprofit News can get discounts of up to 20%, which helps smaller nonprofit newsrooms. Expect a demo and a sales conversation before you see a number.

What to Watch Out For

Echobox makes publishing decisions based on what has performed well before, so editors still need clear rules about which stories should never be posted automatically, such as sensitive or legally risky coverage. The pages we reviewed list terms, privacy and data processing documents but no security certifications.

User reviews are positive overall, but some reviewers want deeper analytics, more design templates and Instagram scheduling, and new users describe a learning curve. Because it is designed around publishers, brands and creators will find it heavier than a general social media scheduler.
