Finch Score

Our editorial score across six weighted criteria, based on Finch’s published documentation, pricing and public user ratings. How we score

  • Autonomy8.5

AI agents transcribe calls, request records and open claims while Finch staff sign clients and draft demands, so the firm receives finished pre-litigation work with attorney review.

  • Ease of Setup8.5

Finch staff work inside the firm's MyCase or CasePeer account and email, so no new system is needed, though onboarding runs through Finch's team.

  • Pricing Value7.0

A single flat fee avoids per-case charges, and the amount is shared by quote.

  • Integrations8.0

Finch has integration pages with MyCase and CasePeer and works with firm email and messaging, with CasePeer two-way sync still in development.

  • Trust and Security8.0

Sequoia describes SOC 2 compliant security, and attorneys keep ownership of cases inside their own system.

  • User Sentiment7.5

Public ratings have not appeared yet, so this is a neutral score.

Finch’s beta partner firms cut case staff time and costs by as much as two-thirds and grew as much as 40% month over month, according to Sequoia, which led its seed round. Finch gives personal injury firms a pre-litigation team, made of bilingual paralegals and case managers working alongside AI agents, that takes a case from the first call to a demand package inside the firm’s own case management system.

Finch suits small and mid-size PI firms that turn away cases because they cannot hire case staff fast enough. Points to weigh are a flat fee shared by quote, an outside team handling core case work and a focus on personal injury. We rate it 8.0/10 on our scale. We have not used Finch; this review is based on its integration pages at MyCase and CasePeer, its investors’ announcements and press coverage.

The investor list says more than any single metric. Sequoia and Redpoint backing, plus angels who run DoorDash and Ironclad, give Finch the money to hire the paralegals its model depends on. Redpoint frames Finch as selling outcomes, meaning finished intakes and demands, rather than software the firm must staff itself.

The founding story explains the product design. Bindra scaled DoorDash businesses including Pickup, Grocery and Convenience, and Sequoia’s Alfred Lin compares Finch to how delivery marketplaces changed restaurants: a service layer that lets small operators do more without building the operation themselves. Sequoia also cites industry context that half of a typical PI firm’s team time goes to administrative work and that close to half of firms expect 40% of support staff to retire within five years, which is the staffing gap Finch is built to fill.

The performance figures need context. The two-thirds cost cut and 40% monthly growth came from beta partners, and the intake and turnaround numbers appear on integration pages Finch supplied. They are plausible for a staffed service but are not independent audits, so a firm should ask for references from practices of its size.

What Finch Automates for a PI Firm’s Intake and Case Staff

Finch combines AI agents with people. The agents transcribe calls, request records and open claims; bilingual paralegals and case managers talk to clients and make judgment calls; experienced legal operators review the work. Everything lands in the firm’s case management system.

Signing the Client Within a Day

Finch runs intake around the clock in English and Spanish. Its staff qualify leads against the firm’s criteria and sign those that fit, and new claims sync straight into MyCase or CasePeer. Finch reports answering 99.9% of intake calls and signing 85% of qualified leads.

Claims, Adjusters and Representation Letters

Within 24 hours of signing, Finch opens insurance claims and sends representation letters. A voice agent handles insurance claim calls, and staff record claim numbers and adjuster details in the case file.

Chasing Medical Records and Treatment

Case managers request medical records and bills, which Finch says arrive 30% faster than before, and check on each client’s treatment every 14 days. Over a nine-month treatment period that works out to about 19 check-ins per client, each logged in the case system.

Demand Packages in 48 Hours

When treatment wraps up, Finch drafts the demand package with an average 48-hour turnaround and unlimited revisions. Completed documents are pushed into the matter record, with a duplicate check on CasePeer.

A Rear-End Collision Case Through Finch

A driver hit from behind calls the firm on a Sunday night. A bilingual Finch intake specialist answers, takes the facts in Spanish, confirms the case meets the firm’s criteria and sends the retainer. By Monday afternoon the claim is open with the at-fault driver’s insurer, a representation letter is out and the adjuster’s details are in MyCase. Over the following months a case manager requests records from the emergency room and the physical therapist and checks in every two weeks on treatment. When the client is released from care, the demand package is drafted within two days and sent to the attorney for review. The attorney negotiates; Finch has done the file work.

Starting Finch at a Firm

Because Finch is a staffing extension rather than a plugin, setup is mostly access and rules. The CasePeer article describes it as coordinating with Finch to give its team access to the firm’s case management environment. In practice a firm sets up accounts for Finch staff, agrees which email addresses they will send from, shares its intake criteria and retainer documents and decides which case stages Finch takes over. A sensible start is new intakes only, with existing cases staying with in-house staff until the firm trusts the work.

Where Finch Staff and Attorneys Draw the Line

Attorneys keep ownership of every case and make legal decisions: case acceptance policy, demand amounts, settlement and litigation. Finch staff work inside the firm’s system under the firm’s email addresses, which keeps the client relationship with the firm. Firms should review demands before they go out and set rules for which leads Finch may sign without an attorney call.

What Finch Charges and How the Flat Fee Changes the Math

Finch charges one flat fee rather than per case or per hour, according to its MyCase and CasePeer pages. The amount is not published.

Three Firm Sizes Run Through the Two-Thirds Claim

Without a published fee, the useful math is the staff cost Finch says it can cut. These scenarios apply the best case from Sequoia’s report, a cut of up to two-thirds, to illustrative annual case staff costs; replace them with your own payroll.

  • A solo or two-attorney firm spending $200,000 a year on case staff: a two-thirds cut would be about $133,333 a year, the ceiling for what Finch’s flat fee would need to beat.
  • A mid-size firm spending $400,000: up to $266,667 a year.
  • A regional firm spending $900,000: up to $600,000 a year.

These are ceilings, not forecasts. Most firms will keep some case staff for client relationships and post-demand work. The flat fee changes the risk, too: a firm that doubles its intake does not automatically double its bill the way per-case pricing would, so ask how the fee scales with volume before signing. The other side of the ledger is revenue. If Finch’s intake signs more qualified leads and demands go out faster, settlements arrive sooner, which matters as much as payroll for a contingency-fee practice.

Questions to Put to Finch Before Signing

  • Scope: which stages the flat fee covers, from intake through demand, and whether post-demand follow-up is included.
  • Volume: how the fee changes if intake doubles, and whether there is a case cap.
  • Term: contract length, notice period and what happens to work in progress if you leave.
  • Staffing: whether the same case managers stay on your matters and how coverage works during peaks.

Finch Against EvenUp, Supio and Eve for Pre-Litigation Work

Most PI tools sell software the firm’s staff operate. Finch sells the staffed work itself.

SupioCustom quote (demo)NoAI on medical records, demands and intake for large caseloadsSoftware the firm must operateLarge PI and mass tort firms

Choose Finch when the bottleneck is people: you have leads and cases but cannot hire paralegals fast enough. Choose EvenUp or Supio when your team is in place and you want software to make it faster, especially on demands and medical chronologies. Eve fits firms working across employment, workers’ compensation and disability as well as PI. Some firms may combine approaches: a staffed service for intake and records, with demand software in-house, though that adds a second vendor to manage. More options are in our AI agents for law firms guide.

PI Firms That Should Book a Finch Demo

  • Small local PI practices: Sequoia describes these as Finch’s core customers, and they feel staff shortages most.
  • Firms with Spanish-speaking clients: bilingual intake and paralegals cover a large share of PI clients in many US markets.
  • Firms on MyCase or CasePeer: Finch works inside both, using the firm’s own email addresses.
  • Firms losing leads after hours: Finch reports answering 99.9% of intake calls around the clock.
  • Firms planning to grow case volume: a flat fee avoids adding a hire for every new batch of cases.

Firms Finch May Not Suit Yet

  • Firms that want to keep all case work in-house: Finch puts outside staff inside your case system.
  • Practices outside personal injury: Finch starts with PI pre-litigation.
  • Litigation-heavy firms: Finch covers work before suit is filed.
  • Buyers who need list prices: the flat fee is quoted.

Points to Settle Before Handing Pre-Litigation to Finch

  • Supervision duties: attorneys remain responsible for non-lawyer staff working on their cases; set review points for retainers and demands.
  • Client communication: Finch writes from the firm’s email addresses, so clients may not know an outside team is involved; check your state’s rules on disclosure and confidentiality.
  • Quality control: ask how legal operators review AI and paralegal output and what happens when a demand needs rework.
  • Data access: Finch staff work inside your case management system; confirm access controls and how access ends if you leave.
  • Sync status: on CasePeer, two-way sync of notes and tasks was listed as in development.
  • Source of figures: the two-thirds cost cut and intake rates come from Finch’s investors and partner pages.

Our 8.0/10 Rating for Finch and the Reasoning

Finch is a different kind of AI agent purchase: the firm buys finished intake, claims, records and demand work, delivered by people and AI agents together inside its own case system. For a small PI practice that cannot hire fast enough, that can mean more signed cases and faster demands without new desks.

We give it 8.0/10 on our scale. Strong investors, clear turnaround commitments and a flat fee help; a published price, public reviews and clear guidance on attorney supervision of an outside team would lift the score. Ask for references from a firm of your size and a written description of review steps, then compare the quote with what you pay case staff today.
