Veeva AI Agents Score

Our editorial score across six weighted criteria, based on Veeva AI Agents’s published documentation, pricing and public user ratings. How we score

  • Autonomy8.3

Agents screen promotional content, flag call-note issues, prepare pre-call insights and draft safety narratives inside Vault, but MLR, safety and quality decisions stay with people.

  • Ease of Setup7.8

Delivered agents switch on inside existing Vault applications with existing permissions, though configuration, custom agents and change management point to a guided rollout.

  • Pricing Value6.3

Veeva states the pricing is usage-based and shares rates through its account teams rather than publishing them.

  • Integrations8.5

Agents have direct access to data, documents and workflows across Vault CRM, PromoMats, Safety, Quality and other Vault applications, and custom agents can use models on Amazon Bedrock or Azure AI Foundry.

  • Trust and Security8.5

Agents follow existing Vault access controls, permissions and audit trails, and Veeva-delivered agents run on models hosted on Amazon Bedrock.

  • User Sentiment8.8

Capterra rates Veeva CRM 4.5 out of 5 from 18 reviews, a platform-wide rating adjusted because it predates the agents and reviewers mention cost.

More than 4,000 Vault instances and over 2 million monthly users already run on Veeva software, and since December 2025 Veeva has been adding AI agents directly into those systems. Veeva AI Agents check promotional content before medical, legal and regulatory review, flag risky wording in field call notes, prepare reps for visits and draft safety case narratives. They are a strong option for pharma and biotech companies already on Vault, and they are built for Veeva customers rather than other platforms.

Price visibility is the main thing to plan around: Veeva says the agents are usage-based and shares rates through its account teams, so every deal starts there. The agents use Anthropic and Amazon models on Amazon Bedrock and inherit each user’s Vault permissions. We rate Veeva AI Agents 7.9/10 on our scale. We have not used the product; this review is based on Veeva’s press releases, conference coverage and published reviews of Veeva CRM.

1,500 Life Sciences Customers and Five Agents Live

  • Veeva serves more than 1,500 life sciences customers, and its first five agents went live in Vault CRM and PromoMats on December 4, 2025.
  • The agents run on Anthropic and Amazon models hosted on Amazon Bedrock and follow each user’s existing Vault permissions and audit trails.
  • Moderna said the Quick Check Agent moves it closer to a promotional review process where parts of MLR could become nearly touch-free.
  • Pricing is usage-based with no published rates, so cost depends on how many agent runs your teams generate.
  • We rate Veeva AI Agents 7.9/10: a strong fit for existing Veeva customers, designed for the Veeva ecosystem.

Veeva’s Release Calendar for Its Agents

Veeva has published an unusually specific release calendar for its agents, and its customer base explains why buyers inside the Veeva ecosystem take it seriously.

The release calendar is the most practical fact here. A company buying for commercial teams could use agents from December 2025, while clinical data teams were told to wait until December 2026. Before signing, map your own Vault applications against that schedule and ask which agents are generally available versus early adopter.

The model choice also matters for IT and compliance reviews. Veeva-delivered agents run on Anthropic and Amazon models inside Amazon Bedrock, but custom agents can use a customer’s own models on Bedrock or Azure AI Foundry, which helps companies that already approved one of those clouds.

Application-Specific Agents on the Vault Platform

Veeva AI Agents are part of Veeva AI, the layer of agentic AI Veeva added to its Vault Platform. Each agent belongs to a specific application and ships with prompts and safeguards for that job, plus direct and secure access to the application’s data, documents and workflows. There is no separate agent product to connect.

Commercial Agents in Vault CRM

  • Free Text Agent: reads call notes, flags possible accuracy and compliance problems and supports richer call reporting.
  • Voice Agent: lets field reps capture information and follow-up actions by voice instead of typing.
  • Pre-call Agent: pulls relevant data, content, activity and trends into insights and suggested actions before a meeting with a healthcare professional.

Content Agents in PromoMats

  • Quick Check Agent: scans promotional content against editorial, brand, market, channel and compliance guidelines so issues are fixed before MLR review.
  • Content Agent: gives context-aware answers about document text and images, summarizes content, analyzes visuals and works with Quick Check during review.

Research, Safety and Quality Agents

Veeva’s 2026 roadmap extends agents to safety, quality, clinical operations, regulatory, medical and clinical data. By the May 2026 R&D and Quality Summit, safety case narrative generation and quality deviation and complaint summaries were live, and Vault AI features included document chat, translation, summarization and document comparison. Veeva also described Falcon, a separate platform of standardized agents for high-volume work such as TMF document intake and safety case processing, aimed at early adopters in late 2026.

What Launch Customers Said

Veeva’s December 2025 release carried comments from several large customers. Bristol Myers Squibb’s chief digital and technology officer said Veeva AI is well placed to support its mission. Moderna’s global marketing operations director tied the Quick Check Agent to a promotional review process that could become nearly touch-free in parts. Crinetics, a rare disease company, said the agents give it deeper customer insight for engagement, and Novo Nordisk’s field systems director described the CRM agents as good for the business, for healthcare professionals and for patients. These are vendor-selected endorsements rather than measured results.

Check Availability, Configure, Then Extend

  • Confirm availability: check that agents for your Vault applications are released in your version.
  • Configure: adjust Veeva-delivered agents to your processes, guidelines and content rules.
  • Extend: build custom agents with Veeva AI, choosing Veeva-hosted models or your own on Amazon Bedrock or Azure AI Foundry.
  • Roll out: train users and, if needed, bring in Veeva Business Consulting for process design and change management.

MLR Approval and Safety Review Stay With People

The agents flag, prepare and draft. A Quick Check pass does not replace MLR approval, a drafted safety narrative still needs a safety reviewer and a pre-call suggestion is only a suggestion. Because agents use each person’s existing permissions, someone also needs to keep Vault roles tidy, since an agent can see whatever its user can see.

Usage-Based Billing, Rates on Request

Veeva describes Veeva AI as usage-based and says that model makes it easier to start small and scale over time. It does not publish rates, tiers or a free trial.

Estimating Agent Usage to Negotiate a Tier

Without published rates, the useful exercise is estimating how much agent usage you will generate, so you can negotiate a sensible usage tier. The volumes below are our own illustrative assumptions.

  • A 200-rep field force: if every rep runs the Pre-call Agent before six calls a day across 20 working days, that is 24,000 pre-call runs a month, before counting Free Text checks on each call note, which roughly doubles the run count to 48,000.
  • A promotional review team: a brand team submitting 150 pieces a month that each go through two Quick Check passes generates 300 runs, a small number that may fit within an entry usage commitment.
  • A safety team: a group processing 2,000 cases a month with a drafted narrative per case adds 2,000 runs, plus any Content Agent questions reviewers ask.

Other costs to plan for: the underlying Veeva application licenses, consulting for process redesign, and internal time to keep content guidelines current so Quick Check enforces the right rules.

Veeva AI Agents Compared With IQVIA.ai, Benchling AI and Tulip AI Agents

Life sciences agents tend to live inside the system of record they act on. Veeva covers commercial, regulatory, safety, quality and clinical records; the others own different parts of the work.

AgentStarting PriceFree PlanMain StrengthMain Trade-OffBest For
Veeva AI AgentsUsage-based, quoteNoAgents work directly on Vault data, documents and workflowsUseless without Veeva applicationsPharma teams already on Vault
IQVIA.aiQuoteNoAgents tied to IQVIA data and services across clinical and commercial workNo published pricing or self-serve accessSponsors already buying IQVIA data or services
Benchling AIIncluded with Benchling subscriptionLimitedAgents inside lab notebooks, registries and resultsOnly useful inside BenchlingBiotech R&D labs
Tulip AI Agents$100 per interface per month (reported)NoShop-floor and quality agents for manufacturingAgents still in betaRegulated manufacturing sites

Veeva and IQVIA overlap most on commercial work: both offer field and HCP engagement agents. The difference is where the data lives. Veeva agents act inside the CRM and content systems, while IQVIA agents draw on IQVIA’s data assets and services. Many companies run both, so this is less an either-or choice than a question of which vendor owns each workflow. See more options on our life sciences agents page.

Vault CRM Reps and PromoMats Review Teams

  • Commercial teams on Vault CRM: Pre-call, Voice and Free Text agents work where reps already log calls, with no new tool to adopt.
  • Promotional review groups on PromoMats: Quick Check catches brand and compliance issues before MLR, which is where review cycles usually stall.
  • Safety and quality teams on Vault: case narrative drafting and deviation summaries attack high-volume writing work.
  • IT teams that want model control: custom agents can run on your own models in Amazon Bedrock or Azure AI Foundry.

Non-Veeva Companies and Biotechs Without Vault

  • Companies on other CRMs or document systems: the agents work inside Veeva applications.
  • Early-stage biotechs without Vault: buying Vault to get the agents is a large commitment for a small team.
  • Buyers who need fixed, published pricing: usage-based deals without public rates make early budgeting harder.
  • Research labs focused on experiments: a lab platform such as Benchling AI fits bench work better.

Staggered Releases and Usage Planning

  • Staggered releases: agents arrive application by application through 2026, and Falcon and Agentic Authoring are later still. Confirm what is generally available for your version.
  • Usage-based billing: large field forces generate tens of thousands of agent runs a month, so negotiate caps or tiers.
  • Permissions carry over: agents see what users see, so loose Vault roles become loose agent access.
  • Human review stays: Quick Check and narrative drafting reduce work but do not replace regulated approvals.
  • Cost feedback: Capterra reviewers of Veeva CRM mention cost and a demanding learning curve, and agents add a new usage line.

Agents Announced for Every Veeva Application

Sensible on Vault as Long as Usage Stays in Check

For companies already on Vault, yes, as long as you control usage. Veeva AI Agents score 7.9/10 on our scale: strong on integration and permissions, with unpublished rates and a staggered rollout as the areas to improve. The agents sit exactly where regulated work already happens, so there is no data export, no extra login and no new audit trail to maintain. Moderna’s comment that Quick Check could make parts of MLR nearly touch-free shows where the biggest early gains are likely.

The case is less immediate if you are waiting on agents that have not shipped for your application, or if your team cannot forecast usage. Start with one high-volume workflow such as promotional checks or call note review, measure the runs it generates and use that number in pricing talks before extending agents to the rest of Vault.

Veeva Agent Availability and Usage Billing, Sorted Out

How Much Do Veeva AI Agents Cost?

Veeva says Veeva AI uses usage-based pricing and does not publish rates. Pricing comes through a Veeva account team and sits on top of your existing Vault application licenses.

Which Veeva Applications Have Agents?

Vault CRM and PromoMats received agents in December 2025. Veeva scheduled Safety and Quality for April 2026, Clinical Operations, Regulatory and Medical for August 2026 and Clinical Data for December 2026.

Veeva-delivered agents use large language models from Anthropic and Amazon hosted on Amazon Bedrock. Custom agents can use Veeva-hosted models or a customer’s own models on Amazon Bedrock or Microsoft Azure AI Foundry.

Can Veeva AI Approve Promotional Materials on Its Own?

No. The Quick Check Agent screens content against guidelines before MLR review so reviewers see fewer issues, but approval remains a human step in PromoMats.

How Does Veeva AI Compare With IQVIA.ai?
