Element451 Bolt Agents Score

Our editorial score across six weighted criteria, based on Element451 Bolt Agents’s published documentation, pricing and public user ratings. How we score

  • Autonomy8.8

Agents answer inquiries across four channels, run outreach, score applications against a rubric and screen for fraud, while staff review flagged files and handoffs.

  • Ease of Setup8.0

Agent jobs are assigned without code in a five-step rollout, but packages are sold through sales and documentation recommends controlled live tests before launch.

  • Pricing Value6.8

Base prices are shared by quote; reported support seat fees ($150 per extra seat a year) and usage-cap rules are public.

  • Integrations8.8

Element451 names Slate, Salesforce, Banner and Workday plus SIS, LMS and CRM connectors and a public API, though the Canvas connector is reported as read-only.

  • Trust and Security8.8

Vendor-stated SOC 2 Type II, FERPA support, US data residency, SAML 2.0 and a 99.9% SLA are reported, with a public Trust Center.

  • User Sentiment8.9

Capterra rates the Element451 platform 4.6 from 7 reviews, trimmed for the small sample and mentions of a learning curve.

Element451 says its Bolt agents ran 5.6 million conversations with students in the year to May 2026, 11.4 times the year before, and cut the share of chats handed to staff from 3.0% to 0.31%. Those are vendor figures, but they describe agents doing real enrollment work: answering inquiries, chasing applications, reading files and screening for fraud.

Element451 Bolt Agents suit colleges and universities with large inquiry and application volumes and small admissions or advising teams, especially schools already on Slate, Salesforce, Banner or Workday that do not want to switch CRMs. Price transparency is the main area Element451 could improve: there are no published base prices, and messaging, voice and identity checks count against annual caps. We rate it 8.3/10 on our scale. We have not used Element451 ourselves; this review is based on Element451’s product page and May 2026 announcement, a third-party analysis of its pricing pages, and Capterra reviews.

5.6 Million Agent Conversations Across 400-Plus Colleges

  • Element451 reports 5.6 million agent-driven conversations, 873,000 fraud checks and more than 400 institutions as of May 2026.
  • Prebuilt agent teams cover marketing, admissions, student success, and continuing education and workforce, with an Application Reader and Fraud Detector for admissions offices.
  • Since May 2026, Bolt runs as a standalone platform on Slate, Salesforce, Banner or Workday as well as on the Element AI CRM.
  • Pricing is quote only; renewals from August 1, 2026 reportedly use annual caps on SMS, voice minutes, transcript evaluation and identity checks.
  • Assumption University reported 85 hours of admissions staff time saved in the first 30 days of a controlled study.

Usage Figures Element451 Reported in May 2026

Element451 publishes unusually detailed usage figures for an education vendor. Most come from its own May 2026 announcement, so read them as company-reported.

The growth figures matter more than the totals. A jump from roughly half a million to 5.6 million agent conversations in a year, together with a handoff rate near 0.3%, suggests institutions are letting the agents finish conversations rather than using them as a front door to a human. For a buyer, the 0.31% handoff rate is the number to test in a pilot, because it decides how much staff time the agents actually free.

The customer results are narrow but concrete. Assumption University measured 85 hours saved in a month in a controlled comparison, and Richard Bland College cut application review time by 80%. Both point to admissions as the strongest use case today. The small Capterra sample, seven reviews for the whole platform, means outside validation is still building.

Agent Teams Mapped to College Departments

Bolt Agents are organized as teams that match college departments. A school picks the teams it needs and assigns each agent jobs, such as following up with students who started but did not finish an application.

The Agent Teams

  • Enrollment and admissions: a prospect engagement agent finds prospective students and runs personalized outreach across channels; the Application Fraud Detector screens each submission for duplicate records and falsified information; the Application Reader scores applications against the school’s rubric and writes a summary.
  • Student engagement: an RFI responder answers inbound inquiries over chat, SMS, email and voice; a program guide walks students through degrees and career paths; a landing page builder drafts pages that staff review and publish.
  • Marketing and communications: a campaign builder creates campaigns from goals, audience and brand; a copywriter writes for any channel; an outbound messenger follows up on interest, form submissions and event registrations.
  • Student success: an academic monitor tracks progress and answers advising questions around the clock; an engagement agent finds disengaged students and promotes events; a career pathways agent connects coursework to internships and jobs.

Channels and Languages

Agents reach students by phone, SMS, email, WhatsApp, web chat and StudentHub, Element451’s browser-based student portal, in more than 100 languages. A third-party review of the help docs reports that outbound calling covers +1 US and Canada numbers only, and that inbound calls must forward to an external number or a Bolt agent.

Running Bolt on Your Own CRM or on Element AI

  • Choose a deployment: run Bolt on an existing CRM and SIS with no migration, or on the Element AI CRM with Bolt built in.
  • Onboard agent teams: pick Marketing, Admissions, Student Success, or CE and Workforce.
  • Assign agent jobs: set goals and audiences without code or an IT ticket. A job’s goal cannot be changed after it is created, and each instance has an enrollment limit; contacts past capacity wait in a queue.
  • Load knowledge: add documents to the Knowledge Hub; files above about 10 MB are reported to fail parsing more often, so split them.
  • Watch and expand: track activity, review conversations, give feedback and add teams over time. The docs recommend isolated live tests before a broad launch.

Flagged Applications and Handoffs Go Back to Staff

Staff review applications the fraud agent flags, take conversations the agents hand over and approve landing pages before they go live. Identity verification allows three attempts per student; after three failures staff must reset the status. Someone also has to keep the knowledge base current and decide which jobs each agent runs.

Department Packages With No Published Base Price

Element451 does not publish base prices. Bolt Agents are included in all Bolt and Element packages, which are sold by department. The figures below come from a third-party analysis of Element451’s pricing and help pages in 2026.

Sizing Metered SMS, Voice and Verification Costs

Without base prices, the useful exercise is to size the metered parts. Under the legacy credit system, which the third-party review lists at $0.01 per credit, SMS cost 2 credits per US segment, phone minutes 2.5, advanced voice minutes 10, transcript evaluations 75 and identity verifications 200. Renewals from August 1, 2026 swap credits for annual caps, but the old rates show which activities are expensive.

  • A mid-size admissions office: 20,000 SMS segments, 2,000 phone minutes, 500 advanced voice minutes, 300 transcript evaluations and 200 identity checks in a year would have used about 112,500 credits, or $1,125 at legacy rates. Identity checks ($400) and SMS ($400) make up most of it.
  • Support seats: a Standard tier school that wants five staff on live support adds four seats at $150, or $600 a year; ten staff on Standard would add $1,350.
  • Uncapped work: the Application Reader, fraud detection, email and Bolt web chat are reported as uncapped in qualifying packages, so a school that leans on those pays mainly the package fee.

Other costs to ask about: implementation fees, cap expansion rates, managed services, the Snowflake add-on and renewal uplift, none of which are listed publicly. Caps reset each year at renewal and do not roll over; alerts fire at 80% and 100%, and features keep working at the ceiling.

Element451 Bolt Agents Compared With Mainstay, Agentforce and Fin AI Agent

Fin AI Agent$0.99 per outcomeTrialPublished per-resolution price and broad helpdesk supportGeneral support agent with no admissions-specific skillsSchools that only need inquiry answering

Element451 is the only one of the four built around admissions tasks such as rubric scoring and application fraud screening. Mainstay is the closer peer for student success messaging and brings stronger published research. Agentforce makes sense where a university already runs Salesforce and has staff to build agents. Fin is the price benchmark for answering questions, but it will not read an application. More options are in our AI agents for education guide.

Admissions Offices Facing Large Application Volumes

  • Admissions offices with large application volumes: the Application Reader and Fraud Detector take on first reads and screening, the work behind Richard Bland College’s 80% cut in review time.
  • Schools on Slate, Salesforce, Banner or Workday: the standalone Bolt platform avoids a CRM migration.
  • Teams that answer the same inquiries all day: the RFI responder covers chat, SMS, email and voice in more than 100 languages.
  • Continuing education and workforce programs: they get their own agent team and package.
  • Student success offices: academic monitor and engagement agents watch for disengaged students and answer advising questions after hours.

K-12 Schools and Buyers Who Want a Price First

  • K-12 schools: the agents are built for college enrollment and student lifecycle work.
  • Buyers who need a price before a sales call: no base prices are published.
  • Programs that call students outside the US and Canada: outbound calling is reported as +1 only.
  • Schools that need write-back into Canvas: the native Canvas connector is reported as read-only.
  • Very small programs: annual department packages and caps are sized for institutions with steady volume.

Yearly Usage Caps and Package Names to Clarify

  • Usage caps: US and Canada messaging, phone and AI voice minutes, phone numbers, transcript evaluation and identity verification are capped yearly, and expansion rates are negotiated.
  • Package names: the third-party review found that the seven packages on the buying page and the structure in the help center do not map to each other, so get the package list in writing.
  • Locked job goals: an agent job’s goal cannot be edited after creation, so plan jobs before launch.
  • Knowledge file size: files above about 10 MB parse less reliably.
  • Support hours: the Standard tier’s live seat covers weekday business hours only.
  • Vendor-reported results: the usage and customer figures come from Element451; ask for references at schools of your size.

A Standalone Bolt Platform for Slate, Banner and Workday Schools

Built for Admissions Work, With Usage Caps Attached

For colleges that want agents doing admissions and student success work rather than a general chatbot, Element451 Bolt Agents are a strong fit, with pricing as the main point to plan for. We score them 8.3/10 on our scale: high on autonomy, higher ed integrations and security documentation, with room to grow on pricing value because prices are not published. The admissions agents are the strongest part. Few products read applications against a rubric and screen for fraud, and Element451’s reported 873,000 fraud checks and Assumption University’s 85 hours saved in a month show the work is happening at scale.

Before signing, ask for the package price, every cap in your contract and the expansion rates, then model your busiest month of SMS and voice traffic. Run a controlled pilot like Assumption University’s and track the handoff rate and hours saved against your own staff baseline.

Cost, CRM Choice, Fraud Checks and Student Data Safety

How Much Do Element451 Bolt Agents Cost?

Element451 does not publish base prices; Bolt Agents come with every Bolt and Element package, quoted by department. A third-party review reports extra live support seats at $150 each per year and annual caps on messaging, voice minutes, transcript evaluation and identity checks for renewals from August 1, 2026.

Can Bolt Agents Work Without the Element451 CRM?

Yes. Since May 2026 Bolt runs as a standalone platform alongside existing systems such as Slate, Salesforce, Banner and Workday, with no CRM migration. Schools can also use the Element AI CRM, which has Bolt built in.

How Does the Application Fraud Detector Work?

It screens each application at submission for duplicate records and falsified information and flags risk before a person reviews it. Element451 reports 873,000 fraud checks in the 12 months to May 2026. Identity verification allows three attempts before staff must reset a student’s status.

Is Student Data Safe With Element451?

Element451 states SOC 2 Type II, FERPA support, US data residency, SAML 2.0 single sign-on and a 99.9% SLA, as reported in a third-party review, and runs a public Trust Center. Ask for the SOC 2 report and data-handling terms during procurement.

Which Tasks Sit Outside Bolt Agents?

They are reported to place outbound calls only to US and Canada numbers, and the native Canvas connector reads data without writing back. An agent job’s goal cannot be changed once created, and decisions on flagged applications stay with admissions staff.
