Framer says 53% of website work is maintenance and edits, and in June 2026 it handed that work to AI agents. Framer Agents, part of Framer 3.0, edit live projects: pages, components, styles, CMS content, SEO settings and the publishing workflow. Changes can land on a separate branch so a person reviews them before the site updates. Framer reports more than 188,000 companies in 200 countries on its platform, including Perplexity, Miro, Superhuman and Zapier.
It is best for startups, agencies and marketing teams that want to build and maintain production marketing sites without waiting on engineers. Points to plan for are a credit system that heavy jobs use quickly, branching on the Pro plan, and a free plan limited to non-commercial use. Paid plans start at $10 a month. We rate it 8.6/10 on our scale. We have not used Framer Agents; this review is based on Framer’s launch post, pricing page and credits announcement, plus published coverage of the launch.
Agents That Edit the Live Site, Branched for Safety on Pro
- Framer Agents edit the live, publishable project: pages, responsive layouts, code components, CMS collections, SEO metadata and site audits.
- Branching on the Pro plan keeps agent changes on an isolated copy until a teammate approves and merges them.
- Plans run from free (500 credits) to Basic at $10 a month (1,000 credits) and Pro at $30 (3,000); Framer estimates a landing page at about 300 credits.
- Framer says Superhuman handles 85% of its website work with design and marketing teams alone, and Perplexity built its site without developers.
- Against Webflow AI, Framer’s agents reach further into editing and auditing a live site; Webflow has the deeper CMS and enterprise tooling.
Customer Scale and Per-Task Credit Costs From Framer 3.0
Framer published unusually specific numbers with the 3.0 launch, from customer scale to per-task credit costs.

| Model multipliers | Sonnet 4.6 at 0.9x, GPT 5.5 at 1x (default) and Opus 4.8 at 1.8x credits | Framer credits announcement, June 2026 |
| Seat price cut | Editor seats cut from $40 to $20 a month; content editors $10 | Framer credits announcement, June 2026 |
| Plans | Free (500 credits), Basic $10 a month (1,000 credits), Pro $30 a month (3,000 credits), Enterprise custom | Framer pricing page, viewed November 2026 |
The maintenance figure explains the product. Most AI site builders focus on the first draft. Framer is pitching its agents at the ongoing edits, audits and content updates that make up more than half of website work by its own count, which is where marketing teams lose the most time.
The credit table is the most useful number for buyers. At about 300 credits a landing page, Basic’s 1,000 monthly credits cover roughly three new pages on the default model, or fewer on Opus 4.8. Teams planning a full site build in the first month benefit from the 2x credits Framer gives in month one.
Prompt, Inspect, Change Across the Whole Framer Project
Framer Agents run inside the Framer canvas and can see the whole project: canvas, components, CMS, styles, SEO settings and publishing. Framer describes the loop as prompt, inspect, edit and publish, and says agents bring speed and scale while humans bring taste, judgment and control.
Design and Build
Agents generate pages and designs from prompts or screenshots, build layouts and sections, handle responsive breakpoints, organize styles and add effects and interactions. They can also write custom code components when a design needs behavior Framer does not offer out of the box. Because the output is a normal Framer project, designers can keep editing it by hand.
Content, CMS and SEO
Agents write and improve copy, import content, manage CMS collections and create CMS detail pages. They generate SEO metadata and alt text, which covers the routine work that usually slips on fast-moving marketing sites.
Audits
Agents check a site for broken links, accessibility issues, low contrast and inconsistent styling. For teams that inherit an older site, this is a quick way to find the problems before redesigning.
Branching and Review
On Pro, branching gives each agent or teammate an isolated copy of the site. You review and compare changes, collaborate, merge approved work and publish when ready. Each change can be inspected, and marking a change as bad in the Changes summary refunds its credits.
External Agents
Developers can connect Claude Code, Cursor, Codex or Gemini CLI to a Framer project through MCP. Those tools then use the project’s context and design system. Usage through your own Claude or OpenAI subscription does not draw on Framer credits.
Open to Every User Since Launch With No Waitlist
Agents were made available to every Framer user at launch, so there is no waitlist or separate product to buy. A new user signs up on the free plan, which comes with 500 agent credits, and can prompt an agent to generate a first page or import content. Moving a real business site onto Framer needs a paid plan, because the free tier is for non-commercial use. Teams that want a review step should start on Pro, where branching and staging are included, and set a rule that agent work happens on a branch. Developers who prefer their own tools can connect them through the MCP server, which is listed on the free plan.
Brand Direction, Merges and Publishing Stay Human
People still set the brand direction, review branches, approve merges and publish. Copy and SEO metadata need a human check for accuracy. Agents speed up the work but Framer positions them as tools under human control, not a replacement for a designer’s judgment.
Site Plans With Bundled AI Credits Plus Seats and Add-Ons

A Freelancer’s 1,000 Credits on the $10 Basic Plan
These scenarios use Framer’s published prices and its own credit estimates. Workloads are our illustrative assumptions.
- A freelancer on Basic: $10 a month buys 1,000 credits. Two new landing pages (600 credits), two large edits (200) and four small edits (200) use the full allowance. On Opus 4.8 at 1.8x, a single landing page costs about 540 credits.
- A three-person startup team on Pro: $30 plus two extra editors at $20 each is $70 a month. Adding two locales at $20 each makes $110 a month, or $1,320 a year, with 3,000 credits a month.
- An agency rebuilding a client site: a 20-page build at about 300 credits a page needs roughly 6,000 credits, so a higher Pro credit tier or the 2x first-month bonus matters more than the base price.
Other costs to plan for: credit top-ups, whose prices are not listed on the pricing page; premium model multipliers; extra pages, CMS items and bandwidth on Pro; and the Advanced hosting add-on for complex setups.
Framer Agents Compared With Webflow AI, Relume, v0 and Lovable
AI website tools range from site builders with agents built in to code generators. Framer and Webflow are both visual builders with hosting; Relume plans sites; v0 and Lovable generate code and apps.
| Agent | Starting Price | Free Plan | Main Strength | Main Trade-Off | Best For |
|---|---|---|---|---|---|
| Framer Agents | Free; Basic $10 a month | Yes | Agents that edit, audit and maintain a live site with branching | Credits drain on big builds; branching on Pro only | Startups and marketing teams |
| Webflow AI | Free; Basic site $15 a month (yearly) | Yes | Deep CMS, SEO audits and app generation | Design-edit AI limited to some templates | Content-heavy sites and enterprises |
| Relume | Free; Starter from $18 a month | Yes | Sitemaps and wireframes that export to builders | Does not host or maintain the site | Agencies planning sites |
| v0 by Vercel | Free; Plus $30 per user a month | Limited | Production code for interfaces | Needs developers to maintain | Product and front-end teams |
| Lovable | $25 a month (Pro) | Yes | Full-stack apps from prompts | Less suited to marketing sites edited by non-developers | Founders building MVPs |
Choose Framer when designers and marketers own the site and want agents to handle edits and audits on a live project. Choose Webflow AI for large CMS-driven sites and enterprise publishing controls. Relume pairs with either for planning, while v0 and Lovable suit product and app work. More options are in our design agents and startup agents guides.
Startup Marketers and Agencies Using Branches for Clients
- Startup marketing teams: Framer’s own example is Superhuman doing 85% of website work through design and marketing alone.
- Agencies on Pro: branching lets agents prepare client changes for review, and higher credit tiers cover large builds.
- Teams with neglected sites: audits for broken links, accessibility and inconsistent styles surface problems quickly.
- Developers who want their own AI tools on the site: External Agents bring Claude Code, Cursor, Codex or Gemini CLI into the project without spending Framer credits.
Commercial Projects on the Free Plan and Web App Builders
- Commercial projects that must stay free: the free plan is for non-commercial use.
- Teams that need web apps: Lovable or v0 fit app logic better than a marketing site builder.
- Very large content sites: Pro tops out at 700 pages and 40,000 CMS items before Enterprise.
- Basic-plan teams that want a review step: branching sits on Pro, so agent changes on Basic go straight into the project.
How Many Landing Pages the Base Credits Cover
- Credit math: at about 300 credits per landing page, base allowances cover a few new pages a month. Check usage after the first week.
- Model choice: Opus 4.8 costs 1.8 times the credits of the default. Use premium models for hard tasks only.
- Top-up pricing: credit add-ons start at 1,000 credits, but their price is not shown on the pricing page. Ask before committing to a heavy build.
- Review discipline: without branching, edits land directly in the project. Publish only after someone has checked the changes.
- Vendor figures: customer counts, the 53% maintenance share and the Superhuman result are Framer’s own claims.
Framer 3.0 Ships With Agents and Branching in June 2026
- June 2026: Framer launched Framer 3.0 with Agents, Branching, External Agents and a new Community, available to everyone at launch.
- June 2026: Framer moved to AI credits and simpler plans, retiring the Scale plan and halving editor seats to $20.
- June 19, 2026: CMOtech reported Framer’s State of Sites findings and customer examples alongside the agent launch.
Worth Switching On Today for Existing Framer Teams
For teams that already build in Framer, the agents are worth using immediately. They work on the real project rather than a mockup, they handle the maintenance and audit work that eats most website time, and branching gives Pro teams a proper review step. Low entry prices and credit refunds for bad changes reduce the risk of trying.
It scores 8.6/10 on our scale. Strong autonomy and easy setup lift it; larger credit allowances for big builds, listed top-up prices and public ratings would lift it further. If you are choosing between builders, compare it directly with Webflow AI: Framer is quicker for design-led teams, Webflow stronger for large CMS sites.
Auto-Publishing, Outside Coding Tools and Agent Costs
How Much Do Framer Agents Cost?
Agents use AI credits included with each plan. The free plan has 500 credits, Basic is $10 a month with 1,000 and Pro is $30 a month with 3,000, with higher credit tiers available. Framer estimates about 300 credits per landing page and 50 per small edit.
Can Framer Agents Publish Changes on Their Own?
Agents can work across the publishing workflow, but Framer is built around human review. On Pro, branching keeps agent changes on an isolated copy until a teammate merges and publishes them.
Can I Use Claude Code or Cursor With Framer?
Yes. External Agents connect Claude Code, Cursor, Codex and Gemini CLI to a Framer project through MCP. Using your own Claude or OpenAI subscription this way does not draw on Framer credits.
Which AI Models Do Framer Agents Use?
Framer’s credit announcement lists GPT 5.5 as the default at 1x credits, Sonnet 4.6 at 0.9x and Opus 4.8 at 1.8x. Choosing a premium model makes each task more expensive.
Is Framer Better Than Webflow for AI Site Building?
Framer’s agents reach further into editing, auditing and maintaining a live site, and plans start lower. Webflow offers a larger CMS, app generation and enterprise publishing controls. Design-led startups tend to fit Framer; content-heavy sites fit Webflow.
