Users have built more than 60 million projects on Lovable since it launched in November 2024, and apps made with it draw over 900 million visits a month. The Stockholm company sells a chat-based agent that writes a working web application from a plain-English description, then keeps editing it as the user asks for changes.
For startups, the appeal is speed: a founder can put a clickable product with real login and data in front of customers before hiring an engineer. Lovable grew out of GPT Engineer, an open-source project by its founders Anton Osika and Fabian Hedin.
How It Works
A user describes the app, and Lovable plans and writes both the front end and the back end. For data and accounts it provisions a Supabase backend in the user’s own Supabase account, covering the database schema and authentication. Changes are made by chatting with the agent, so no coding is required to iterate.
Finished apps can be published to a lovable.app subdomain, with custom domains on paid plans. Lovable has added connections through the Model Context Protocol to Notion, Linear, Confluence, Jira and n8n, so the agent can pull context from those tools. The Business tier adds SSO, role-based access and audit logs for teams.
Pricing
The free plan gives five credits a day, about 30 a month, with public projects and Lovable branding. Pro costs $25 a month and Business $50, both cheaper on annual billing, and Enterprise is quoted. Credits drive everything: each prompt uses some, and the amount depends on how complex the request is. Paid users can buy more credits when they run out. Supabase charges separately if an app outgrows its free tier.
What to Watch Out For
Credit-based billing makes heavy build weeks more expensive than light ones, and published guides disagree on how many credits Pro includes, so check the live pricing page before committing. Apps built quickly still need review for security, data handling and edge cases before real customers or payments touch them. Teams with large existing codebases may find a code editor agent a better fit than a builder that starts from scratch. This entry is based on published information, not hands-on testing.
