WRITER says its newest model, Palmyra X6, lets its agents finish tasks at 52% lower cost and 48% faster than before, and can keep working unattended for up to eight hours. The San Francisco company, founded in 2020, began as an enterprise writing tool and now sells an agent platform to large companies such as AstraZeneca, Currys and Vodafone.
The product is called WRITER Agent: one interface where staff chat with the AI or turn repeat jobs into automated workflows, grounded in company data and held to brand rules.
How It Works
Multi-step work is captured in Playbooks, shareable instructions the agent follows each time. Playbooks can run on request, on a schedule as routines, or from event-based triggers added in April 2026. Answers draw on WRITER’s Knowledge Graph, which connects to sources such as Snowflake, Google Drive and SharePoint, and personality profiles keep tone and terminology consistent. Enterprise customers get an Agent Library of more than 100 prebuilt agents, approval steps and detailed governance.
Under the hood, the agent runs on WRITER’s Palmyra models, now led by Palmyra X6. Administrators can also enable Anthropic, OpenAI or custom models through Azure, Amazon Bedrock or NVIDIA NIM. Dashboards track adoption, spend and how each Playbook performs, with alerts and limits on spending. Extensions bring the tool into Chrome, Word and Outlook.
Pricing
WRITER’s plans page lists two tiers but no dollar figures. Starter is a per-seat plan for up to five users, with five Playbooks, three scheduled routines, three active connectors and a 14-day free trial that needs no card. Third-party pricing guides report it at $29 per user per month billed annually, or $39 monthly. Enterprise is priced through sales and adds unlimited users and Playbooks, full Knowledge Graph features, SSO, SCIM and priority support. Nonprofits and schools get 20% off. Palmyra X6 is also sold through the API at $2 per million input tokens and $8 per million output tokens.
What to Watch Out For
Starter’s five-user cap means most companies will need an Enterprise contract, and prices are not public. The speed, cost and quality gains for Palmyra X6 come from WRITER’s own testing. Compliance coverage is broad, with SOC 2 Type II, HIPAA, GDPR and PCI, but audit reports are available on request for Enterprise only.
