Construction teams using Trunk Tools save 20 to 40 minutes per search, the company says, by asking questions of their drawings, specs and RFIs in plain English instead of digging through folders. The New York startup was founded in 2021 by Sarah Buchner, who started out as a carpenter, later worked as a superintendent and project manager, and holds a PhD in civil engineering and data science. It has raised $70 million.
How It Works
Trunk Tools ingests project documents such as blueprints, specifications, RFIs, submittals, meeting minutes and contracts, structures them and answers questions about them. It connects to Procore, Autodesk Build, SharePoint, Egnyte and Box, and field staff can search by voice from a phone.
On top of that sits a growing set of agents. The Schedule Agent tracks progress against the plan and flags delays. The Submittal Agent follows approvals and spots mismatches or missing data, and the Risk Agent reviews documents and messages for coordination clashes and compliance problems. The company had more than 10 live agents by mid-2026, up from two a year earlier, including ones that review contracts and drawings and help with bids. In May 2026 its agents were reported to be available on Autodesk Forma through the Autodesk App Store. Customers are mainly general contractors and subcontractors in the US and Canada.
Pricing
Trunk Tools sells subscriptions through its sales team and does not publish prices. Large organizations can also buy training and change-management help as part of a rollout, which suggests the company expects multi-project deployments rather than single users.
What to Watch Out For
The agents mostly flag problems rather than fix them, so the value depends on whether project teams act on the alerts. Answers depend on the documents connected, which means teams need current revisions in the systems Trunk Tools reads. Time savings and revenue growth figures come from the company. Smaller builders may find the product geared to larger general contractors, although Trunk Tools has said it wants to reach mid-market firms.
Recent News
In July 2025 Trunk Tools raised a $40 million Series B led by Insight Partners, with Redpoint Ventures, Innovation Endeavors, StepStone, Liberty Mutual Strategic Ventures and Prudence taking part. The company said it would use the money to expand its engineering team, reach mid-market and smaller firms, and build agents that recommend fixes as well as flag issues.
