More than 70 insurance carriers and brokers run customer conversations through Liberate, and the San Francisco company says its platform processes over 3.5 million transactions a month. Its agents quote policies, take claims reports and update coverage for property and casualty insurers by phone, text and email.

Liberate was founded in 2022 by former Metromile executives and sells mainly to carriers, MGAs and large agencies.

How It Works

The best-known piece is Nicole, a voice agent that takes inbound calls and makes outbound ones for policy sales and service. Behind it, reasoning agents connect to an insurer’s existing systems to finish the job: generating a quote, opening a claim or processing an endorsement. Liberate’s agents log their work in Guidewire, Duck Creek, Snapsheet and Applied Epic, so staff see the same records they would after a human call.

Aspire General Insurance, a non-standard auto carrier, shows how it works for claims. Policyholders can call Nicole at any hour to report a loss. The agent gathers details in conversation rather than a fixed script, issues a claim number, starts internal claims steps, sends a confirmation by text or email and pushes everything into Snapsheet. Liberate says the agent resolves about 80% of those calls itself, with warm transfers to claims staff for the rest. A Supervisor tool records each interaction, flags anomalies and escalates to a licensed person when needed. Its newest feature, AI Intercept, spots calls placed by consumers’ AI assistants and routes them to Liberate’s own agents.

Pricing

Liberate does not publish prices. It sells through demos, and third-party reviews say contracts are priced by carrier size with implementation scoped per customer. Professional services such as workflow design and integration work are offered on top.

What to Watch Out For

Headline results such as a 263% return for one large insurer come from the company and are not independently verified. Most customers are unnamed. The product is designed for carrier claims and service operations, so a small agency that mainly needs a receptionist may find it oversized. SOC 2 Type 2 and GDPR compliance have been reported, but buyers should request the reports. Liberate says its agents are multilingual without listing languages.
