Trellis Puts an AI Agent in Every Sprout Social Plan

Every Sprout Social customer got Trellis in July 2026, on every plan, with 100 AI agent credits per seat each month. Trellis is an agent that sits across Sprout’s listening, publishing, inbox and reporting tools. It writes executive summaries, flags unusual spikes in volume or sentiment, routes customer feedback to other teams and, through Trellis Studio, runs saved skills on a schedule. JetBlue and Ipsy said it brought report building and launch monitoring down to minutes.

Trellis fits social and brand teams that report to leadership and spend too long turning social data into slides. Sprout prices per seat, starting at $79 on the Essentials plan, and heavy users can buy Trellis Plus. We score it 8.7/10 on our scale.

Trellis Points Social Leads Ask About

  • Available to every Sprout customer in July 2026; general availability announced August 19, 2026.

  • Trellis Studio turns saved skills into recurring tasks that run automatically.
  • JetBlue and Ipsy reported reporting and monitoring time falling to minutes.
  • Sprout Social is rated 4.4 out of 5 from 6,873 G2 reviews.

G2 rating4.4 out of 5 from 6,873 reviewsG2, Sprout Social vs. Hootsuite

Two facts matter most to a buyer. The first is that Trellis comes with every plan, so there is no separate AI contract to approve. The second is the credit model. Sprout publishes exact allowances and a flat Trellis Plus price with no overage, which makes the AI part of the bill predictable.

The customer quotes are qualitative. JetBlue’s social lead talked about cutting the time it takes to pull insights together, and Ipsy’s program manager pointed to listening topics and executive summaries. Both describe time saved per task in hours and minutes, so treat them as a direction for your own pilot to test against your current reporting hours.

Where Trellis Works Inside Sprout

Sprout describes Trellis as one intelligence layer across four parts of the product.

Spike Alerts in Sprout Listening

In Listening, Trellis watches for unusual spikes in volume or sentiment and flags them early. Ipsy uses it to create listening topics. Brand risk shows up here first, and Trellis can route the relevant feedback onward.

Drafts in the Publishing Calendar

On the publishing side, Trellis drafts replies and post variations as part of the included tier. Teams still choose what goes out. Sprout’s separate AI Assist features, which enhance posts on Professional and replies on Advanced, do not use Trellis credits.

Inbox Briefings and Feedback Routing

Inbox briefings summarize what came in and what needs attention. Trellis also analyzes sentiment and themes in customer messages and can send that feedback to product and care teams outside marketing.

Executive Summaries Built From Reports

Trellis turns raw performance data into executive summaries and compares performance across networks. That comparison feeds budget and effort decisions, such as whether to keep spending time on a network that underperforms.

Trellis Versus Sprout’s AI Assist Features

Sprout runs two kinds of AI, and the difference affects the bill. AI Assist covers in-place writing help: Enhance Post on Professional and Enhance Reply on Advanced. These do not use credits. Trellis is the agent layer: chat, summaries, briefings, routing and scheduled skills. Trellis Chat and Skills consume credits.

In practice, a community manager polishing replies all day uses AI Assist and barely touches the credit pool. A social lead running five scheduled skills and asking Trellis for weekly analysis uses credits steadily. Plan seats for Trellis Plus around the second group.

Trellis Studio and Scheduled Skills

Trellis Studio arrived with the general rollout. Teams build custom skill templates, and recurring tasks then run automatically. Sprout gives two examples: tracking a viral trend and summarizing a week of customer feedback.

This is the part of Trellis that acts without a prompt. A social lead can set a Monday skill that summarizes last week’s performance for the CMO, another that checks sentiment on a product launch every morning and a third that sends a Friday digest of customer complaints to the product team.

Trellis Chat and Skills draw on credits. A team that schedules many skills should watch usage in the first month and move to Trellis Plus if the 100 included credits per seat run short.

A Launch Week With Trellis Skills

This example uses the features Sprout documents; the brand is illustrative. A cosmetics brand launches a new serum on Tuesday. The social lead sets a Trellis skill to summarize sentiment on the launch every morning and another to compare engagement across networks each evening.

On Wednesday morning Trellis flags a spike in negative mentions about packaging. The lead reads the summary, sees the feedback has already been routed to the product team and drafts a reply with Trellis for the care team to post. By Friday the weekly executive summary goes to leadership without anyone building slides.

Three Team Budgets Worked Out

A two-seat small team on Essentials pays $158 a month on annual billing. Adding Trellis Plus for both seats brings it to $214 and lifts the shared pool to 2,000 credits a month, up from 200.

A three-seat brand team on Professional pays $897 a month. With Trellis Plus it pays $981, or $11,772 a year, with 3,000 credits a month in place of 300.

A five-seat care and social team on Advanced pays $1,995 a month, or $2,135 with Trellis Plus. That is $25,620 a year on annual billing, before any listening add-on.

The jump in credits from Trellis Plus is tenfold for $28 a seat. Teams that rely on scheduled skills will likely want it; teams that use Trellis for occasional summaries may never need it.

Trellis Compared With Wisdom, Blaze and Echobox

We built this comparison from published pricing in our own listings.

AgentStarting PriceFree PlanMain StrengthMain GapFits
Trellis by Sprout Social$79 per seat a month, annualNoScheduled skills and executive summaries across a full suiteBase credits are light for heavy useTeams reporting to leadership
Hootsuite Wisdom$99 per user a month, annualNoTrend and risk reads across publishing, care, advocacy and listeningDrafts and recommends; people postBrand and care teams
Blaze AI$79 a monthNoPlans and publishes social, blog and email contentLighter listening and careSmall businesses
EchoboxCustom quoteNoAutomated social posting for publishersBuilt for news and magazine outputPublishers

Trellis and Wisdom are the nearest match: both are agents inside full social suites, both are included in plan prices. Sprout’s Essentials tier is $20 cheaper per seat than Hootsuite’s Standard but allows 5 profiles against 10. Trellis is ahead on scheduled skills, while Wisdom spans employee advocacy as well. Blaze and Echobox are for different buyers: small firms that want content made and posted, and publishers that want headlines shared automatically. More options are on our social media agents page.

A First Month of Trellis Skills

Week one is for watching. Run Trellis Chat on questions the team already answers by hand, such as last week’s top posts or the main complaint themes in the inbox, and compare its answers with the team’s own read.

Week two is for the first scheduled skill. Pick the report that takes the longest to build each week, often the leadership summary, and turn it into a Trellis Studio skill that runs on Monday mornings. Keep building the manual version in parallel for two weeks to check the output.

Week three adds a monitoring skill. A daily sentiment check on the brand name, or on a product line with recent issues, catches spikes before they reach the inbox at volume.

Week four is for credits. Look at how many the team used and whether skills ran short. With 100 credits per seat, a three-seat team has 300 a month to share. If usage ran past that, Trellis Plus at $28 a seat is the next step; if it stayed well under, the included allowance is enough.

Reports Leadership Actually Reads

Executive summaries work best when they answer the questions leaders ask. Write the skill prompt around those: what changed, why, what the team is doing about it and what it needs. Trellis compares performance across networks, so a recurring question about where to spend effort can be answered with data each month.

Teams Trellis Was Built For

Social leads who report upward every week gain the most. Executive summaries and scheduled skills replace the Monday ritual of pulling numbers into slides.

Brands with review and reputation work also fit. Standard and above include review management, and Advanced adds sentiment in Smart Inbox and Reviews, so Trellis can summarize what customers say across both. Our reviews and reputation page lists more tools for that job.

Companies where product and care teams want social feedback get a direct route. Trellis sends sentiment and themes to them without a marketing analyst in between.

Who May Want a Different Social Tool

Solo creators and very small businesses that just need to schedule posts may find per-seat pricing high for what they use. Lighter tools cost far less, and the Essentials tier still costs $79 a seat on annual billing. Those buyers can compare options on our social media page before committing to a suite.

Teams that need deep listening history will add the Listening module, priced by quote. Budget for it before choosing Sprout for Trellis alone.

Heavy Trellis users on the base 100 credits per seat will run out. Plan on Trellis Plus if skills will run daily. Agencies managing many client brands should also model seats carefully, since each person who needs Trellis needs a paid seat.

Credit Planning and Data Handling

Credits reset on each billing date. Trellis Chat and Skills consume them; AI Assist features do not. Trellis Plus has no overage charges, which keeps the AI line of the bill fixed.

Trellis draws on Sprout’s own social data across networks, which Sprout contrasts with general-purpose AI models that lack live social feeds. Enterprise buyers can arrange dedicated SSO setup, and larger teams should ask Sprout for its documentation on how Trellis prompts and outputs are stored.

Trellis Reaches Every Sprout Customer

Trellis Scores 8.7 on Our Scale

Trellis earns 8.7/10. Pricing value and setup score well: the agent is included on every plan, credits are published, Trellis Plus has no overage and the trial needs no card. User sentiment is high on 6,873 G2 reviews of Sprout.

Autonomy is above most social assistants because Trellis Studio runs skills on a schedule, though people still publish and reply. Integrations stay mainly within Sprout, with the API and Helpdesk links on Advanced.
