Vertafore Velocity Agents Across Intake, Servicing and Accounting
Vertafore’s Change Request Agent went live in Surefyre on November 3, 2026, cutting time spent reviewing and documenting policy changes by 70% in Vertafore’s internal testing. It is the newest of a set of Velocity AI agents the insurance software company began releasing in April. The set now covers submission intake for managing general agents, policy changes, carrier statement reconciliation and email triage, each inside a Vertafore product staff already use.
Every agent prepares work and a person approves it. Pricing is quoted with the underlying product. Vertafore Velocity AI Agents score 7.8/10 on our scale. They fit MGAs and agencies already running Surefyre or AMS360, and those buyers should treat the speed figures as vendor results to test.
Vertafore Agents for Insurance Operations Teams
- Six Velocity AI agents launched April 14, 2026; the Change Request Agent followed on November 3.
- Vertafore states submission processing falls to about two minutes from about an hour.
- Early users of the Submission Processing Agent reported 87% accuracy.
- Underwriters review, edit and approve every change before it is saved.
- Surefyre, where the MGA agents run, holds 4.6 out of 5 from 17 Capterra reviews.
Seven Velocity Agents and Where Each Runs
Vertafore built the agents on its Velocity AI Platform. The platform sits inside AgencyOne, its MGA products and Sircon. This table lists each agent and where it runs.
| Agent | What It Does | Product | Availability |
|---|---|---|---|
| Submission Processing | Turns emails, PDFs and spreadsheets into structured submissions, flags gaps, drafts broker follow-ups | MGA workflows (Surefyre) | Launched July 8, 2026 |
| Change Request | Reads policy change requests, compares them with policy data, summarizes changes for approval | Surefyre | Available November 3, 2026 |
| Portal Launcher | Converts PDF applications into digital submission portals | Surefyre | Available April 2026 |
| Reconciliation | Ingests carrier statements, matches transactions, flags exceptions | AMS360 | Early adopters spring 2026, GA planned early summer |
| Reads Outlook emails and starts AMS360 actions | AMS360, Outlook | GA planned summer 2026 | |
| Insurance Expert | Answers insurance questions with explainable, sourced answers | ReferenceConnect AI | Available April 2026 |
| Benefit Plan | Extracts and structures benefit plan data from source documents | BenefitPoint | Summer 2026 for BenefitPoint users |
Availability dates come from Vertafore’s releases. Buyers should confirm which agents are live on their own instance, since several reached customers in stages.
Inside the Submission Processing Agent
An MGA gets submissions from brokers in every format. One is a short email. Another is a PDF form. A third is a spreadsheet of locations with loss runs sent later. Someone has to read it all and type it into the system. Only then can an underwriter look at the risk.
Reading Broker Emails, PDFs and Spreadsheets
The agent reads emails, PDFs, spreadsheets and supporting documents, extracts the information underwriters need and turns it into organized data they can review.
Completeness Checks on Each Submission
It then checks whether the submission is complete. If a loss run or a building value is missing, it flags the gap.
Drafting Broker Follow-Ups
For missing items, the agent automatically generates follow-up requests to the agent or broker. This is where much of the waiting time in submission intake sits.
Handing Off to the Underwriter
Underwriters receive a structured submission ready for review. Dan Rieden of XPT Specialty said the capabilities let his team process submissions in any format. Early users reported 87% accuracy, which means roughly one field in eight needs checking.
What Underwriting Assistants Still Do
Staff still check the output. At 87% accuracy, about one field in eight needs a look. They also judge broker replies to follow-up notes and decide when a file is ready for the underwriter. The agent takes the typing and the first read. People keep the checks and the calls.
Inside the Change Request Agent
Endorsements and renewals generate a steady stream of change requests. Each one needs comparing with the current policy before an underwriter can decide.
- Read: The agent reads incoming policy change requests.
- Organize: It extracts and organizes the relevant details.
- Compare: It compares renewal and endorsement applications with existing policy data.
- Summarize: It presents the changes in plain language.
- Prepare: It readies the changes for processing.
- Approve: The underwriter reviews and edits the summary, then saves the approved version to the application record.
Emily McGinn, general manager of MGA and Wholesale, said underwriting judgment is the scarcest resource in an MGA. The agent assists; it does not decide. Vertafore’s internal testing showed 70% less time reviewing and documenting changes and 98% fewer errors.
A Property Endorsement Through the Agent
A broker emails a request to add a new warehouse location and raise a building limit on a commercial property policy. The Change Request Agent reads the email, pulls the address, building value and requested limit, and compares them with the policy on file. Its summary says one location is added, one limit rises, and the requested effective date is next month. The underwriter checks the new location’s risk details, edits one value and saves. The example is ours; the steps follow Vertafore’s description.
A Carrier Statement Through the Reconciliation Agent
An agency gets a monthly commission statement from a carrier with 600 lines. The Reconciliation Agent reads it in AMS360 and matches each line with the agency’s records. Most lines match. It flags 14 as exceptions: a few commissions at the wrong rate and some policies it cannot find. An accountant reviews the 14 and fixes them. Vertafore says statement work now takes minutes, where it used to take up to an hour. The statement and counts are our example.
Vertafore Velocity Figures and Dates
| Fact | Detail | Source and Date |
|---|---|---|
| Platform launch | Velocity AI Platform and six agents at Accelerate 2026, Denver | Vertafore release, April 14, 2026 |
| Submission time | About one hour to about two minutes | Vertafore release, April 14, 2026 |
| Statement processing | Minutes instead of up to an hour | Vertafore release, April 14, 2026 |
| Benefit plan setup | Under five minutes, against 20 to 30 before | Vertafore release, April 14, 2026 |
| Submission accuracy | 87% reported by early users | Vertafore release, July 8, 2026 |
| Named user | XPT Specialty (workers’ compensation) | Vertafore release, July 8, 2026 |
| Change requests | 70% less review time and 98% fewer errors in internal testing | Vertafore release, November 3, 2026 |
| Market reach | Supports over 95% of top agencies and insurers and 50% of industry compliance transactions | Vertafore release, November 3, 2026 |
| Reviews | Surefyre: 4.6 out of 5 from 17 reviews | Capterra listing |
Read the numbers by their basis. The submission time is Vertafore’s statement, the 87% accuracy comes from early users, and the change request figures come from internal testing. The 87% figure is the one to plan around, because it sets how much review an underwriting assistant still does.
Vertafore’s reach is the larger point. A vendor whose software already handles half of the industry’s compliance transactions can place agents where the work happens. Buyers get agents without a new system, but only inside Vertafore products.
Hours an MGA Could Free With Vertafore Agents
Vertafore quotes pricing with its products. We worked out the time side from its stated figures.
| Task | Monthly Volume (Example) | Time Before | Time After | Hours Freed per Month |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Submission intake | 400 submissions | About 60 minutes each | About 2 minutes each | About 387 |
| Policy change review | 300 requests | 15 minutes each (example) | 70% less | 52.5 |
| Benefit plan setup | 50 plans | 25 minutes each (midpoint of 20 to 30) | 5 minutes each | About 17 |
Volumes and the 15-minute change review time are our example inputs. Submission and benefit times are Vertafore’s figures. At 87% extraction accuracy, keep some review time per submission in your own model, so the real saving on intake will be lower than 387 hours.
Questions to Put in the Quote Request
- Licensing: Are agents priced per product, per user or per transaction?
- Bundling: Is the Change Request Agent included with Surefyre or sold separately?
- Rollout: Which of the seven agents are live on your instance today?
- Accuracy reporting: Can you see extraction accuracy by field over time?
Vertafore Agents Against Indico Data, Kalepa and Federato
We built this table from each vendor’s official pages as listed in our directory.
| Agent | Starting Price | Free Plan | Main Strength | Main Gap | Best For |
|---|---|---|---|---|---|
| Vertafore Velocity AI Agents | Quote | No | Agents inside Surefyre and AMS360 that teams already use | Only inside Vertafore products | MGAs and agencies on Vertafore |
| Indico Data | Custom quote | No | Submission intake, triage and claims document work | Separate platform to connect | Insurers with heavy document intake |
| Kalepa | Custom quote | No | Ingests, clears and triages commercial submissions | Underwriting-focused | Commercial carriers and MGAs |
| Federato | Custom quote | No | Underwriting agent that triages and drafts quotes | Separate underwriting platform | Carriers modernizing underwriting |
Indico Data, Kalepa and Federato are standalone platforms that connect to a carrier’s systems. Vertafore’s agents need no connection project for a Surefyre or AMS360 user. An MGA not on Vertafore would compare the standalone options.
More options are in our insurance agents and document processing agents categories.
How to Read the Hours Table
The intake line is the big one. It rests on Vertafore’s one-hour and two-minute figures. Your own times may differ. Time ten submissions by hand this month. Then time ten through the agent, including the check. Use those two numbers in place of ours. Do the same for change requests. A small test like this beats any vendor figure, and it gives you a number to put next to the quote.
Surefyre Reviews on Capterra
Surefyre has 4.6 out of 5 from 17 Capterra reviews, with 4.6 for ease of use and 4.7 for customer service. Reviewers like the clear layout, quick support, customization to their workflows, a document generator for carrier and insurance forms, and links to Google and e-signature tools.
Complaints mention a steep learning curve and tricky first setup, occasional browser-specific glitches, limits such as no direct calling, and data that does not sync between pages. One reviewer reported that most features did not work, an outlier among the reviews.
These reviews rate Surefyre, not the agents. For agent buyers, the sync complaint is the one to test: the Change Request Agent compares requests with policy data, so that data needs to be consistent.
MGAs and Agencies Suited to Velocity Agents
- MGAs on Surefyre: Submission, change request and portal agents work inside the underwriting workbench.
- Agencies on AMS360: Reconciliation and email agents cut statement matching and inbox triage.
- Workers’ compensation and commercial MGAs: XPT Specialty’s use shows fit for messy submissions.
- Benefits agencies on BenefitPoint: The Benefit Plan Agent structures plan documents.
Small MGAs gain too. A team of five that spends most of its week keying submissions can move that time to broker calls and pricing. The gain grows with volume, so count submissions per person before you buy.
Teams That May Look Beyond Vertafore
- Carriers on other policy systems: The agents work only in Vertafore products.
- Buyers wanting published prices: Vertafore quotes every deal.
- Teams needing full automation: Every agent stops for human review and approval.
Contract and Rollout Points for Vertafore Agents
- Accuracy review: At 87% extraction accuracy, keep a review step on every submission.
- Testing basis: Ask for production results on change requests beyond internal testing.
- Data consistency: Clean policy data before turning on change comparisons.
- Staged availability: Several agents reached customers in phases; confirm dates for yours.
- Broker tone: Read the first follow-up notes the agent drafts, so brokers get the tone you want.
Accelerate 2026 to the Change Request Agent
On April 14, 2026, at Accelerate 2026 in Denver, Vertafore introduced the Velocity AI Platform and six agents. CEO Amy Zupon said too much of the work behind insurance is still manual and fragmented, and Chief Product Officer James Thom said the company focused on real workflows over isolated features.
On July 8, 2026, Vertafore launched the Submission Processing Agent for MGAs, quoting XPT Specialty’s Dan Rieden. On November 3, 2026, it released the Velocity Change Request Agent in Surefyre as part of its Digital Underwriter vision, and said five other Velocity agents serve MGAs.
Vertafore Velocity Agents Score 7.8 With Us
Vertafore Velocity AI Agents score 7.8/10 on our scale. The agents read messy submissions, draft broker follow-ups and summarize policy changes. They do it inside software MGAs and agencies already run. Approval stays with underwriters and staff, and Surefyre users rate the platform 4.6. The score is held back by quoted pricing and a sales-led setup.
Vertafore could publish pricing and production results for the newer agents. An MGA on Surefyre should start with the Submission Processing Agent on one program, count the fields underwriters correct, and compare turnaround with the month before.
Once submission accuracy is known, add the Change Request Agent on renewals for the same program. Measuring one agent at a time keeps the results clear. Agencies on AMS360 can run the same test with the Reconciliation Agent on one carrier’s statements.
