XTM Agent is free, but only to companies already paying for XTM Cloud, which starts at $16,500 a year. Launched in February 2026, the agent works as a second pair of eyes for localization project managers: it ranks projects by deadline, workload and risk, suggests translators by skills and availability, and explains how to fix a stuck job, all in plain language inside the translation management system.
It suits XTM Cloud customers that run many projects across many vendors and want less time spent on admin. XTM Agent advises rather than acts; the automation that moves files and checks quality lives in XTM’s separate workflow tools. We rate it 7.8/10 on our scale. We have not used XTM ourselves; this review is based on XTM’s launch announcements, its AWS Marketplace and Capterra listings, and public reviews.
Conversational Help Included on Every XTM Cloud Plan
- XTM Agent launched on February 24, 2026, and its core features are free on every XTM Cloud plan.
- It ranks work by deadline, workload and risk, matches vendors and recommends settings, but it does not complete translation jobs on its own.
- XTM Cloud is listed at $16,500 a year for Team and $60,000 for Business on Capterra, and $68,000 for Business on AWS Marketplace.
- XTM says more than 1,300 companies use its platform, with more than 880 languages and 80 integrations.
- Capterra users rate XTM Cloud 3.6 out of 5 from 13 reviews, while the AWS listing shows 4.3 from 146 G2-sourced ratings.
Customer, Language and Integration Counts From XTM
XTM publishes customer, language and integration counts with each launch, and two marketplaces show its prices. The figures below come from those sources.
| Fact | Detail | Source and Date |
|---|---|---|
| Launch | XTM Agent unveiled as a conversational, context-aware agent embedded in XTM Cloud | XTM press release, February 24, 2026 |
| Price of the agent | Core capabilities free across all XTM Cloud plans | XTM press release, February 24, 2026 |
| Customers | More than 1,300 global companies | XTM press release, February 24, 2026 |
| Languages and integrations | More than 880 languages and more than 80 ready-to-go integrations | XTM press release, February 24, 2026 |
| Active users | 20,000 unique active users and 1,000+ enterprise customers at the time of the AI suite launch | MultiLingual, May 2025 |
| AI suite | Advanced AI Pack (Language Guard, Intelligent Score, Intelligent Workflow) in 90+ languages, plus the XAIA assistant and the XERA orchestration engine | MultiLingual, May 2025 |
| Named customers | Sony Interactive Entertainment, Indeed and Crown Equipment Corporation | MultiLingual, May 2025 |
| AWS Marketplace price | Business plan $68,000 for 12 months with up to 3 million processed words; 24- and 36-month terms save up to 6% and 8% | AWS Marketplace listing, viewed October 2026 |
| AWS Marketplace rating | 4.3 average from 146 ratings, all sourced from G2 | AWS Marketplace listing, viewed October 2026 |
| Capterra | 3.6 out of 5 from 13 reviews; Team plan listed at $16,500 a year | Capterra, viewed October 2026 |
The two price points for the Business plan are worth noticing. Capterra lists it at $60,000 a year, while AWS Marketplace lists $68,000 for 12 months with a defined package: up to 3 million processed words, unlimited users and languages, two connectors, Silver support and implementation. The gap of $8,000 may reflect different packaging, so ask XTM which inclusions each figure covers.
The ratings also diverge. G2-sourced ratings on AWS average 4.3 from 146 reviews, while Capterra’s smaller sample averages 3.6. Both rate XTM Cloud as a whole; XTM Agent is too new for reviews of its own.
A Chat Layer Reading Deadlines and Vendor Assignments
XTM Agent is a conversational layer inside XTM Cloud, XTM’s translation management system. It reads project information, such as deadlines, workloads, vendor assignments and settings, and answers questions or recommends next steps.
What the Agent Does
- Answers questions: project managers ask in plain language and get instant answers about their projects and the platform.
- Speeds up fixes: when something goes wrong, it explains the issue and links to the resources needed to solve it.
- Sets priorities: it suggests which projects to tackle first based on deadlines, workload and risk.
- Matches vendors: it recommends linguists or vendors based on skills, availability and timing.
- Recommends settings: it advises on configuration and best practices for workflows.
XTM’s Head of Product, Andreas Ljungström, framed the goal as giving project managers back the time spent on small questions and manual checks.
The Automation Around It
The agent’s recommendations sit next to automation that acts without a person. XTM’s Advanced AI Pack, announced in May 2025 for more than 90 languages, includes Intelligent Workflow, which sends files to the next step automatically based on confidence levels; Intelligent Score, which rates quality in real time; and Language Guard, which flags offensive or discriminatory wording and suggests replacements. XTM also announced XERA, an orchestration engine that automates the localization lifecycle from string extraction and asset preparation through translation, QA and publishing, using Transifex’s Translation Quality Index, and XAIA, a conversational assistant in XTM Cloud and XTRF that lets users delegate tasks.
The XTM Product Family
XTM International describes itself as an AI globalization platform that combines translation management, business management, software localization and video creation. Its products include XTM Cloud, XTRF for translation business management, Rigi for software localization and visual preview, and TransifexTMS. Customers include Sony Interactive Entertainment, Indeed and Crown Equipment Corporation, along with Fortune 500 companies in life sciences, medical devices, manufacturing and software. For buyers, this means XTM Agent sits inside a broad suite, and language service providers that also run XTRF can keep project and business data in one vendor’s tools.
CEO Lorcan Malone tied the launch to pressure on localization teams to deliver more with fewer resources. The agent is XTM’s answer to that problem on the management side, while the AI Pack and XERA address the production side.
Setup Is Simply the XTM Cloud Rollout
There is nothing separate to buy. XTM Agent’s core capabilities are available on every XTM Cloud plan, so setup is the XTM Cloud rollout itself. On the AWS Marketplace Business plan, that rollout comes with an implementation package and two connectors chosen after purchase.
Project Managers Still Assign, Approve and Escalate
Almost every decision. The agent suggests priorities and vendors, but the project manager assigns work, approves changes and handles escalations. Translation and review run through XTM’s workflow, machine translation and linguists, not through the agent.
XTM Cloud Prices From Capterra and AWS Marketplace
XTM Agent’s core features are included in all XTM Cloud plans at no extra cost. The table shows XTM Cloud prices from Capterra and AWS Marketplace in October 2026.
| Plan | Price | Billing | What’s Included | Limits |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Team | $16,500 a year | Annual | XTM Cloud with XTM Agent | Up to 2 million processed words |
| Business (Capterra) | $60,000 a year | Annual | XTM Cloud with XTM Agent | Set by plan |
| Business (AWS Marketplace) | $68,000 for 12 months | 12, 24 or 36 months | Unlimited users, projects, templates, languages and workflows; one business and one team connector; Silver support; implementation package | Up to 3 million processed words a year; fees non-refundable |
| Enterprise | Custom | Quote or private offer | Larger volumes and terms | Set by contract |
A Small Localization Team on the $16,500 Team Plan
These scenarios use the listed prices. Word volumes are taken from the plan limits.
- A small localization team on Team: $16,500 a year is $1,375 a month, or about 0.8 cents per processed word if the team uses the full 2 million words.
- A department on Business through AWS: $68,000 a year is about $5,667 a month, or about 2.3 cents per processed word at the 3 million word limit, with unlimited users.
- A three-year AWS commitment: three years at $68,000 is $204,000 before discounts; the maximum 8% saving brings it to $187,680. A two-year term with the maximum 6% saving comes to $127,840.
Variable costs to plan for: human translation, which is separate from the platform; additional connectors beyond the two included on the AWS plan; AWS infrastructure costs on marketplace purchases; and the Advanced AI Pack, announced as a pack within XTM’s AI suite, so ask whether it is included in your plan.
XTM Agent Compared With Phrase, Smartling and Smartcat
XTM Agent competes with the agent layers inside other translation management systems. The difference is that XTM’s agent is aimed at project managers, while most rivals aim their agents at the translation and review work itself.
| Agent | Starting Price | Free Plan | Main Strength | Main Trade-Off | Best For |
|---|---|---|---|---|---|
| XTM Agent | Included with XTM Cloud, from $16,500 a year | No (trial listed) | Project and vendor guidance at no extra cost | Advises rather than acts | Localization managers running many vendors |
| Phrase AI Agents | $525 a month billed annually for software teams | No (14-day trial) | Agents that translate, post-edit and commit strings | Quotas on words and AI units | Software and content teams |
| Smartling AI Agents | $49,000 for 12 months on AWS Marketplace | No | LQA Agent that can publish clean content without review | Quote-only pricing | Large brands with strict security reviews |
| Smartcat AI Agents | $100 a month billed annually | No (trial) | Low entry price and a no-code Agent Builder | Upper tiers quote-only | Mid-size teams starting small |
If you want agents that do translation work, Phrase and Smartling go further. If you already run XTM Cloud, XTM Agent is a free addition that helps project managers, and XTM’s workflow automation handles routing. For more choices see our AI agents for translation and project management AI agents guides.
When comparing, separate two questions. First, which platform translates your content best and most cheaply at your volume? Second, which agent saves your project managers the most time? Phrase, Smartling and Smartcat compete mainly on the first. XTM Agent competes on the second, and it only makes sense once XTM Cloud has won the first.
Current XTM Customers and Overloaded Project Managers
- Existing XTM Cloud customers: the agent costs nothing extra and needs no separate rollout.
- Project managers juggling many jobs: priority guidance based on deadlines, workload and risk helps decide what to do first.
- Teams with large vendor pools: vendor matching by skills, availability and timing saves searching through lists.
- New XTM users: plain-language answers and setting recommendations shorten the learning curve on a complex platform.
- Language service providers using XTM and XTRF: XTM’s product family covers translation and business management in one place.
Non-XTM Teams and Hands-Off Translation Seekers
- Teams not on XTM Cloud: the agent works inside it, and the platform starts at $16,500 a year.
- Buyers who want hands-off translation: XTM Agent recommends; it does not translate or publish content.
- Small teams with light volume: a cheaper tool such as Smartcat starts at $100 a month.
- Linguists who work offline: reviewers note that XTM Cloud works only online.
- Teams that put interface quality first: some Capterra reviewers would like a more modern, faster interface.
If you fall into one of these groups, an agent that does the translation and review work itself, or a lighter platform with a monthly price, will likely deliver more for the money. XTM Agent adds the most value where the platform decision has already been made in XTM’s favor.
Agent Suggestions and Where the Automation Lives
- Advice and action: XTM Agent suggests next steps. Check that the automation you need lives in Intelligent Workflow or XERA and is included in your plan.
- Different prices by channel: Business is $60,000 a year on Capterra and $68,000 on AWS Marketplace. Compare inclusions.
- Non-refundable marketplace fees: the AWS listing says fees are non-cancellable and non-refundable except as required by law.
- Interface feedback: Capterra reviewers mention a dated, complex interface, crashes and one support ticket left unanswered for 14 days.
- Leadership change: XTM’s May 2025 suite launch named Ian Evans as CEO, and the February 2026 release names Lorcan Malone as CEO. Ask about roadmap continuity.
- Core versus paid features: XTM says core agent capabilities are free, which implies some may not be. Ask which are included.
XTM International’s February 2026 Launch
- On February 24, 2026, XTM International launched XTM Agent, a conversational agent for localization project managers that is free across all XTM Cloud plans.
- In May 2025, XTM announced its AI suite, including the Advanced AI Pack, the XAIA assistant and the XERA orchestration engine, for launch that summer.
Free Help for XTM Users Already on the Platform
For existing XTM Cloud customers, yes, because it costs nothing extra and targets the admin that eats a project manager’s day. As a reason to choose XTM on its own, it carries less weight. It scores 7.8/10 on our scale: reasonable on integrations, with its advisory design, a high platform entry price and mixed reviews shaping the rest. XTM Agent ranks work, matches vendors and answers questions, while the actual translation, routing and quality checks happen elsewhere in XTM.
Buyers comparing platforms should weigh XTM Cloud as a whole: $16,500 a year for Team, $60,000 to $68,000 for Business, more than 880 languages and 80 integrations. Ask for a trial with your own projects and see whether the agent’s recommendations match what your best project manager would have done.
