HappyRobot reports more than 10 million agent interactions a month and says eight of the 10 largest US freight brokers run its agents in production. The San Francisco company, founded in 2022, builds AI agents that make and take the phone calls freight runs on, from check calls to rate negotiations. It now handles email, documents and browser work too.

How It Works

HappyRobot started with voice. Its agents call carriers for status updates, answer inbound load inquiries, book dock appointments and negotiate rates, then pass the results to the customer’s transportation management system. Customers build workflows on the platform, and the agents make decisions toward goals each company sets. Email handling, document processing and browser automation have since been added, so an agent can read paperwork or update a web portal as well as hold a conversation.

The company says its agents resolve more than 70% of interactions without a person. Named customers include DHL, Kuehne+Nagel, CMA CGM, Werner and MODE Global, and DHL Supply Chain has used the agents for appointment scheduling and warehouse coordination. After its latest funding round, HappyRobot said it was taking the same approach to insurance, energy, telecom and airlines. Pablo Palafox, the chief executive, founded the company with Javier Palafox and Luis Paarup, and it has staff in San Francisco and Madrid.

Pricing

HappyRobot does not publish prices. Contracts are recurring and tied to the volume of work the agents automate, and one report put the minimum annual spend at about $250,000. That puts it out of reach for most small brokers and owner-operators.

What to Watch Out For

Performance figures, including the resolution rate and net dollar retention above 150%, come from the company. Freight AI is a crowded category, with brokerage rivals such as Vooma, Pallet and Augment, so buyers should compare call quality and TMS fit in a pilot. Each deployment is configured to the customer’s workflows, so expect an implementation project rather than a self-serve setup.
