Perplexity Computer Score

Our editorial score across six weighted criteria, based on Perplexity Computer’s published documentation, pricing and public user ratings. How we score

  • Autonomy9.5

Splits a goal into subtasks, runs parallel subagents with a file system and browser, and returns finished files without step-by-step prompting.

  • Ease of Setup9.2

Runs inside existing Perplexity accounts on web, desktop and mobile; Enterprise adds connectors and Slack without a separate install.

  • Pricing Value8.2

Credit ranges per task size are published, but a monthly allowance needs the $200 Max plan or an Enterprise seat.

  • Integrations9.0

Connects Google Workspace, Microsoft 365 and GitHub, and on Enterprise more than 400 apps, custom MCP servers and Slack.

  • Trust and Security8.8

Enterprise keeps existing retention, audit log and permission settings, and Perplexity says customer data is not used for training.

  • User Sentiment8.9

Capterra rates Perplexity 4.2 of 5 across 35 reviews, with support response times as the main complaint.

Perplexity Computer for Long Research and File Jobs

Perplexity Computer takes a goal, splits it into subtasks and assigns each one to a subagent that searches, writes code, calls connected apps or generates images and video. At its February 25, 2026 launch, Claude Opus 4.6 ran the core reasoning and the system could route work across 19 models. Jobs run in an isolated workspace with a file system and a browser, and the user can leave while it works.

It suits analysts, founders and research teams who already pay for Perplexity Max at $200 a month, which includes 10,000 credits a month. Heavy users should plan for extra credits at $1 per 100. We score it 9.0/10 on our scale, with autonomy and app connections ahead of pricing predictability.

Perplexity Computer in Five Points

  • Launched February 25, 2026; Enterprise version followed on March 11, 2026.
  • Max includes 10,000 credits a month; Enterprise Max seats get 15,000.
  • Perplexity lists 350 to 950 credits for a complex multi-step report, or $3.50 to $9.50.
  • Enterprise connects to more than 400 apps and can cite CB Insights, PitchBook and Statista data.
  • Capterra reviewers rate Perplexity 4.2 out of 5 across 35 reviews.

Two facts shape the buying decision. The first is that credit use depends on task size, and Perplexity publishes ranges for each size. The second is the gap between plans: Pro gets a one-time bonus and no monthly allowance, while Max and Enterprise Max get a monthly pool. A buyer who expects weekly use is really choosing between Max and pay-as-you-go credits on Pro.

Perplexity raised $200 million at a reported $20 billion valuation in 2025, according to a Seeking Alpha report, so the product has a well-funded owner behind it.

Inside a Perplexity Computer Task

Writing the Request

You describe the outcome, for example a ten-year chart of a stock price turned into an animated GIF, which was one of the launch examples. Computer reads the goal, plans subtasks and shows them as it works.

Subagents and Model Choice

Each subtask goes to a subagent. At launch, Perplexity named Gemini for deep research, Nano Banana for images, Veo 3.1 for video, Grok for light tasks and ChatGPT 5.2 for long-context calls and broad search. The company describes its approach as model-independent, so the mix can change as new models arrive. By the Enterprise release in March, the count had reached 20 specialized models.

The Isolated Workspace

Tasks run in a separate computing environment with a real file system and browser. Subagents can save files, open pages and run code there, and several can run at once. The user can start another task or close the tab while work continues.

Connectors and Slack on Enterprise

Consumer accounts connect to Google Workspace, Microsoft 365 and GitHub. Enterprise accounts reach more than 400 apps, can add their own MCP servers and can call Computer from any Slack channel or direct message. Teams can also build skills, which are reusable instructions, and share them across the company.

Rolling It Out to a Team

An Enterprise admin connects the apps the team already uses, sets which groups can reach which connectors, and decides who gets Enterprise Max seats. Because Computer inherits the existing retention and audit settings, security reviews can start from the policies already approved for Perplexity Enterprise. Most teams will want two or three heavy users on Max seats and everyone else on Enterprise Pro, whose 500 monthly credits cover a few light tasks.

Review Steps Left to the Perplexity User

You choose the goal, approve the connectors and review the output. Perplexity refunds credits when a task fails because of an error on its side, but not when a finished task misses the mark, so a clear, narrow request is the cheapest protection before a mega task runs.

Perplexity Computer Credits by Plan

PlanComputer CreditsNotes
Consumer ProNo monthly allowance; 4,000 one-time bonusBonus expires in 30 days; buy more at $1 per 100 credits
Consumer Max ($200/month)10,000 a month; 35,000 one-time bonusSpending cap defaults to $200, adjustable to $5,000
Enterprise Pro500 a monthSuited to occasional use
Enterprise Max15,000 a monthSuited to frequent use
Purchased credits100 per $1Expire after one year of non-use

Auto-refill is off by default. When turned on, it tops up at 500 credits on Pro and 2,500 on Max, up to a monthly limit you set. Credits are used in a fixed order: bonus first, then monthly, then purchased.

Three Monthly Budgets Worked Out

We used Perplexity’s published task ranges and the $1 per 100 credit price to estimate three patterns.

UserMonthly WorkloadCredits UsedCost Beyond the Plan
Research lead on Max20 complex reports at 350 to 950 credits7,000 to 19,000$0 to $90
Pro user, light tasks10 research summaries at 100 to 350 credits1,000 to 3,500$10 to $35 once the bonus is gone
Video or data job on MaxMega tasks at 2,400 to 9,800 credits10,000 covers 1 to 4 jobsDepends on job count

For the research lead, the plan price of $200 plus up to $90 in extra credits puts the monthly total between $200 and $290. An Enterprise Max seat with 15,000 credits covers between 15 and 42 complex reports a month by the same ranges.

Sample Jobs Sized Against Perplexity Credit Bands

Perplexity publishes four task bands but no list of which jobs land in which band. We matched common requests to the band descriptions in the help center, so a buyer can rough out a month before paying for one.

JobLikely BandCreditsCost in Dollars
Summary of ten news articles on one companyLight100 to 350$1.00 to $3.50
Competitor table with pricing and features for eight rivalsComplex350 to 950$3.50 to $9.50
Market sizing memo with a chart built in codeHeavy875 to 2,275$8.75 to $22.75
Short product video or a large data collection runMega2,400 to 9,800$24.00 to $98.00

The bands overlap at the edges, so a heavy task can cost less than a large complex one. The pattern still holds: research and writing jobs stay cheap, and jobs that generate video or gather large datasets take most of the budget. A Max user who runs one mega task a week can use the whole monthly allowance on those four jobs alone.

Habits That Keep Credit Use Down

Ask for one deliverable per task. A request that bundles a memo, a deck and a video turns into a mega task, while three separate requests let you stop after the first if it answers the question. Name the sources you trust and the output format at the start, so subagents do not spend credits on detours. Check the running task after a few minutes and stop it if the plan looks wrong; stopped tasks keep the credits they used, but they stop spending more.

Teams on Enterprise can turn good prompts into shared skills. A skill that already holds the house style for a weekly market note saves the back-and-forth that eats credits on each new run.

Perplexity Computer Compared With Manus, Genspark and Kimi

We set Computer against three general agents already listed on our site, using each vendor’s published plans.

AgentEntry PriceFree OptionMain StrengthMain Limit
Perplexity ComputerMax $200/month with 10,000 creditsNo; bonus credits on ProMulti-model routing and Enterprise connectorsMonthly allowance only on Max and Enterprise
Manus$20/month for 4,000 creditsYes, 300 daily creditsLow entry price and scheduled automationsOwnership questions after its 2026 separation
Genspark Super AgentPlus $24.99/month, 10,000 creditsLimited daily creditsLarge credit pool at a low priceCredit use varies by task
Kimi OK ComputerGo ¥49/monthLimitedLow price in ChinaPlans priced in yuan

Manus and Genspark cost less to start, and both include a free tier. Computer’s case rests on its model mix, the Enterprise connector count and premium data sources. Buyers who already use Perplexity Deep Research keep one account and one bill.

Price per credit also differs. Manus sells 4,000 credits for $20 and Genspark sells 10,000 for $24.99, while Perplexity prices extra credits at $1 per 100, which makes 10,000 purchased credits cost $100. Credit units are not the same across vendors, so the fair test is the cost of one finished job of the same size on each service. More options sit in our research agents and general-purpose agents lists.

Teams That Fit Perplexity Computer

Equity and market analysts can use the Enterprise version to pull PitchBook or CB Insights data into a cited memo. Founders who build investor updates, market maps or competitor tables each month can run those as background jobs. Teams on Slack can call Computer inside a channel, which keeps requests and answers visible to colleagues.

It also suits people who already pay for Max. The 10,000 monthly credits come with the plan, so trying Computer adds no new subscription. A consultant who writes two or three client briefs a week fits inside that pool by the published ranges, with room for a heavy task or two.

Small agencies can also use it for pitch research. One request can gather a prospect’s recent news, build a short competitor table and draft a one-page summary, and the agency reviews the file before the meeting. The same work done by hand often takes an afternoon.

Who Might Wait on Perplexity Computer

Light users on Pro get one bonus and then pay per task, which can feel uneven month to month. Finance teams that want a fixed cost per seat may prefer a flat-fee assistant. People who mainly need quick answers can stay with standard Perplexity search, which uses no credits. Teams with strict data rules should read the Enterprise terms closely first, since the consumer plans do not carry the same admin controls.

Buyers who need fixed, high-volume automations on a schedule, such as nightly CRM updates, may find a workflow tool a better fit. Computer is built around requests a person starts, and each run draws on credits.

Credit Expiry and Refund Terms at Perplexity

Monthly credits disappear at the end of each billing cycle. Bonus credits last 30 days. Credits are non-refundable and non-transferable, with exceptions for failures on Perplexity’s side, unauthorized charges, a mistaken Max upgrade reported within 24 hours, and local law such as the 14-day rule in the EU and UK.

When credits run out mid-task, the task pauses until you add more. Set the auto-refill limit and the Max spending cap before starting a large job. Capterra reviewers also raise slow support replies on billing, so keep receipts and task links handy.

Perplexity Computer Updates Since February

Perplexity announced Computer on February 25, 2026 for Max subscribers. On March 11, 2026, it released Computer for Enterprise with Slack access, more than 400 connectors and premium data sources. The help center now lists Computer on Pro, Max, Enterprise Pro and Enterprise Max.

Our Read on Perplexity Computer at 9.0 Out of 10

Computer scores 9.0 out of 10 on our scale. Autonomy rates highest because it plans, splits and finishes multi-step work in its own workspace. Integrations rate well on Enterprise. Pricing value trails, since monthly credits sit on the $200 Max plan or an Enterprise seat, and real costs depend on task size.

Our advice for a first month: run five tasks of the type you expect to repeat, note the credits each used, and multiply. That figure shows if Max covers your work or if you will buy extra credits.

Perplexity Computer Questions From Buyers

Is Perplexity Computer Included With Perplexity Pro?

Pro users can run Computer, but Pro has no monthly credit allowance. New Pro accounts get a one-time bonus of 4,000 credits that expires in 30 days, and after that each task uses purchased credits at $1 per 100.

How Many Credits Does a Perplexity Computer Report Use?

Perplexity lists 100 to 350 credits for light research threads and summaries, and 350 to 950 for complex multi-step reports. Documents that combine research and code use 875 to 2,275. These are examples, and actual use varies by task.

Which Models Does Perplexity Computer Use?

At launch, Claude Opus 4.6 ran the core engine, with Gemini, Nano Banana, Veo 3.1, Grok and ChatGPT 5.2 handling specific subtasks. Perplexity routes work across about 20 models and can change the mix over time.

Does Perplexity Train on Enterprise Data From Computer?

Perplexity says Enterprise customer data is not used for training. Computer for Enterprise also inherits the organization’s existing data retention, audit log and permission settings.
