Workday Marketplace’s AI agents suit organizations that already run HR, payroll or finance on Workday and want agents that work on that data with clear rules. Workday lists its own Illuminate agents next to agents from more than 50 partners, and every agent is managed in the Workday Agent System of Record, which sets what it can see and do.
Prices come by quote from Workday or the partner, and companies on other HR systems will get little from the catalog. For the more than 11,000 organizations on Workday, it lists agents built for Workday data next to Workday’s own. It scores 7.8/10 on our scale.

Workday Marketplace AI Agents by the Numbers
Workday’s June and September 2025 announcements supply these figures.
| Fact | Detail | Source and Date |
|---|---|---|
| Marketplace agent launch | June 3, 2025, at Workday DevCon | Workday release, June 3, 2025 |
| Founding partners | 15, including Accenture, AWS, Google Cloud, IBM, Microsoft, Paradox, PwC | Workday release, June 2025 |
| First Workday agents listed | Business Process Optimize, Financial Audit, Payroll, Recruiting, Talent Mobility | Workday release, June 2025 |
| Partner network growth | More than fourfold in three months, to 50+ partners | Workday release, September 16, 2025 |
| Ventures partners | 15+ Workday Ventures portfolio companies | Workday release, September 2025 |
| Workday Ventures fund | $500 million | Workday release, September 2025 |
| Workday customers | 11,000+ organizations; more than 65% of the Fortune 500 | Workday release, September 2025 |
| Illuminate data | More than 1 trillion transactions a year | Workday release, June 2025 |
| Developer Copilot | Raises developer productivity by more than 50%, per Workday | Workday release, June 2025 |
The partner growth figure tells a buyer the catalog is still expanding fast. Going from 15 founding partners to more than 50 in a quarter means new agents will keep arriving, so a capability missing today may be listed soon.
The partner mix covers two groups. Large technology and consulting firms such as AWS, Microsoft, Accenture and PwC bring platform reach and delivery capacity. Smaller specialists, many of them Workday Ventures portfolio companies, bring focused agents for AP invoices, time tracking and skills data.
The trillion-transaction figure describes the HR and financial dataset behind Workday Illuminate, which powers Workday’s own agents.
Workday’s reach matters for partners too. With more than 65% of the Fortune 500 on Workday, a listing on its marketplace puts a partner agent in front of large HR and finance buyers. That pull helps explain how fast the network grew.
How Workday Marketplace and the Agent System of Record Work Together
Workday splits the job in two. The marketplace is where agents are found and bought. The Agent System of Record is where they are put to work and governed.
Browsing the Marketplace
Customers browse Workday Marketplace for agents from Workday and its partners, then buy and deploy the ones they need. Workday’s first listings covered business process optimization, financial audit, payroll, recruiting and talent mobility. Partner listings added AP invoice handling, talent benchmarking, enterprise search, time tracking, workforce skills, skill-building and leadership coaching.
Hiring an Agent Into the System of Record
Once bought, an agent is managed through the Agent System of Record. Workday describes it in workforce terms: admins hire and onboard agents, assign responsibility, set roles, decide which data each agent may read and which actions it may take, and track performance. The same record covers agents built by Workday, by partners or by the customer.
Connecting Partner Agents Through Agent Gateway
Agent Gateway links partner agents to the system of record. It uses the Model Context Protocol and the Agent-to-Agent Protocol, so an agent from Microsoft, Google Cloud or Glean can exchange information with Workday’s own agents. Workday said Agent Gateway would reach early adopter customers by the end of 2025.
Partner Agents in Practice
Paradox’s Interview Scheduling agent is one example. Once connected through the system of record, it can automate and manage interview coordination inside Workday Recruiting. Auditoria.AI’s AP Invoices Agent works on accounts payable, and Laurel’s agent tracks time.
Agents From Workday Ventures Companies
Workday’s $500 million Ventures fund backs early-stage software companies in finance, HR and vertical applications, and more than 15 of them joined the partner network in September 2025. Their agents include Aisera Assistant, Censia’s talent benchmarking and strategy agent, Uplimit’s Skill-Building Agent and WorkBoard.AI’s Leadership Coach Agent. Six of these companies demonstrated their agents in the Marketplace Zone at Workday Rising in San Francisco.
Managing People and Agents Together
Workday’s stated goal is to manage a workforce that mixes employees and AI agents. Recording agents next to people in one system lets HR and IT see who, or what, did each task, and change an agent’s access when its job changes.
Building and Listing Your Own
Partners enroll in the Agent Partner Network and list agents on Workday Marketplace. Customers’ developers can connect their own third-party agents to the system of record for registration and agent-to-agent work, using Workday’s developer tools.
Developer Tools Around the Marketplace
Workday released a developer toolset at the same June 2025 event. It includes Workday AI Services, AI Widgets, a Developer CLI and new Developer Copilot features, which Workday said would be generally available by the end of 2025. Workday says Developer Copilot raises developer productivity by more than 50%. Customer developers use these tools to build and connect their own agents.
A Payroll Team Adding an Agent, Step by Step
A payroll lead finds Workday’s Payroll agent on the marketplace and works with the Workday account team on terms. An admin then adds the agent to the Agent System of Record, gives it access to payroll data only, sets the actions it may take, and assigns a payroll manager as its owner. The team reviews its performance in the system of record after the first pay cycles before widening its scope.
Workday Marketplace Agent Pricing
Workday and its partners quote prices for agents on the marketplace. Buyers should expect terms per agent.
| Listing Type | Price | Billing | Included | Limits |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Workday Illuminate agents | Quote | Per agreement with Workday | Payroll, audit, recruiting, talent mobility and process agents | Workday tenant required |
| Partner agents | Quote | Per agreement | Agents from Glean, Auditoria.AI, Paradox, TechWolf and others | Connect through the system of record |
| Agent System of Record | Quote | Per agreement with Workday | Roles, data access, actions, performance tracking | Workday platform |
Budgeting a Workday Agent Pilot
Without list prices, the budget work is about scope. These planning scenarios show what to ask for in each quote.
- Single-team pilot: one Workday agent, such as Financial Audit, for one finance team. Ask for a fixed pilot fee, the data the agent needs and how performance will be measured in the system of record.
- HR bundle: Recruiting and Talent Mobility agents plus a partner scheduling agent such as Paradox. Ask whether Workday and the partner bill separately and how each agent’s actions are logged.
- Finance operations: Payroll plus Auditoria.AI’s AP Invoices Agent. Ask about transaction-based pricing, since payroll and invoice volumes rise at month end and year end.
For each quote, ask how the agent is priced (per employee, per transaction or flat), what happens when usage rises, and whether a trial period is available.
Quotes are easier to compare when every vendor answers the same questions. A one-page request listing the agent, the team, the data scope, the expected monthly volume and the pilot length gives Workday and each partner the same basis, and makes their prices comparable.

Companies running both Workday and ServiceNow may use both stores for different jobs. See more on our AI agent marketplaces and recruiting and HR agents pages.
Workday Customers Ready to Add Agents
- HR teams on Workday: recruiting, talent mobility and interview scheduling agents work on the data already in Workday.
- Payroll and finance teams: payroll, audit and AP invoice agents target high-volume, rule-bound work.
- Companies with strict governance: the system of record sets roles, data access and actions for every agent.
- Firms using Microsoft, Google Cloud or Glean agents: Agent Gateway and A2A let those agents work with Workday’s.
- Talent and learning teams: partner agents for skills data, benchmarking and skill-building target workforce planning.
Teams that already work with one of the founding consulting partners, such as Accenture, Deloitte, KPMG or PwC, can ask that firm to help plan which agents to deploy first and how to set their permissions.
Organizations Outside the Workday Ecosystem
- Companies on Oracle, SAP or other HR systems: their own platform’s agent store will fit better.
- Small businesses without Workday: the agents need a Workday tenant, and Workday’s announcements point to large organizations, including more than 65% of the Fortune 500.
- Buyers who want list prices first: every listing needs a quote.
Data Access, Rollout and Partner Terms
HR and payroll data is among the most sensitive a company holds. Use the system of record to give each agent the least data it needs, and review partner agents’ data handling before they connect. Ask where each partner processes data and how long it keeps it.
Agent Gateway was planned for early adopters by the end of 2025. Confirm with Workday which features are available for your tenant before planning a rollout around them.
Partner agents come with partner terms. A buyer may sign with Workday for its own agents and with each partner for theirs, so align renewal dates and support contacts early.
Measure before widening scope. The system of record tracks agent performance, so set targets such as invoices processed or interviews scheduled, and review them after a full cycle.
Keep people in the loop for decisions that affect pay or hiring. Agents can check payroll or schedule interviews, but final calls on pay changes, offers and audit findings should stay with named owners in the system of record.
Workday Agent Marketplace Announcements

- June 3, 2025: Workday unveiled an AI developer toolset that lets partners list agents on Workday Marketplace and lets developers connect third-party agents to the Agent System of Record.
- September 16, 2025: Workday added more than 15 Workday Ventures companies to the Agent Partner Network, with agents from Aisera, Auditoria.AI, Censia, Glean, Laurel, TechWolf, Uplimit and WorkBoard.AI available on Workday Marketplace.
Workday Marketplace Suits Workday Tenants Adding Governed Agents
Workday Marketplace’s AI agents earn 7.8/10 on our scale. The score reflects quote-only pricing more than any weakness in the agents. Agents built for Workday data, a system of record that governs each agent’s role and access, and a partner network of more than 50 companies count in its favor. It could publish agent prices and widen its partner catalog further.
For HR, payroll and finance teams already on Workday, the marketplace is the natural first stop. Start with one agent, one team and clear targets in the system of record, then add partner agents as the catalog grows. A quarterly review of every agent’s access and results in the system of record keeps the rollout under control as the number of agents rises.
