A monday.com agent run can cost about 10 credits or more than 250, depending on how complex the task is, and since May 6, 2026 new accounts must buy those credits on top of their seats. That pricing change, which monday.com folded into its first-quarter results, turned its AI agents from an add-on into a line on every new invoice. Seats still start at $9 a month on Basic, billed annually.
monday.com AI Agents suit business teams that already run requests, projects and sales pipelines on monday boards and want agents to triage, route, update and follow up without someone clicking through every item. Forecasting is the main thing to plan for: credit use per run is an estimate, and the smallest credit bucket on Basic is 1,000 a month. We rate the agents 8.9/10 on our scale. We have not used monday.com ourselves; this review is based on monday.com’s help center, published pricing analysis and financial reporting.
monday.com Seats From $9 Plus a Required Credit Bucket
- Seats cost $9, $12 and $19 per month on Basic, Standard and Pro billed annually, and new accounts since May 6, 2026 must also buy at least 1,000 to 3,000 AI credits a month.
- monday.com estimates a simple agent task at about 10 to 50 credits and an extra complex one at 250 or more; agents began using credits on June 8, 2026 on Pro and below.
- Agents run on mentions, schedules, board events or incoming email, and can create and update items, assign owners, change statuses and send follow-ups.
- Guardrails are built in: agents cannot delete board items, only see what their creator can, and log every run with its reasoning in an Activity tab.
- The platform holds a 4.7 rating from 17,144 G2 reviews, and monday.com grew first-quarter 2026 revenue 24% to $351.3 million.
Credit Estimates, Plan Rules and Quarterly Results
monday.com publishes its credit estimates and plan rules in its help center, and its quarterly results show how large the platform is that the agents sit on.
| Fact | Detail | Source and Date |
|---|---|---|
| Seat prices | Basic $9, Standard $12, Pro $19 per seat per month billed annually; Free up to 2 seats; Enterprise quoted | UsagePricing analysis of monday.com pricing, May 6, 2026 |
| Required credits | At least 1,000 a month on Basic, 2,000 on Standard and 3,000 on Pro for accounts joining from May 6, 2026 | monday.com help center, AI pricing model, viewed October 2026 |
| Larger credit buckets | Standard: 2,000, 4,000 or 8,000. Pro: 3,000, 4,000, 8,000 or 20,000. Enterprise by quote | monday.com help center, viewed October 2026 |
| Credit price signal | Standard’s 2,000 credits listed at 20 euros a month on the European pricing page, about one euro cent per credit; introductory offer waived the charge | UsagePricing, May 6, 2026 |

| Other AI meters | AI workflows 8 credits per run; AI blocks 8 per action; AI Notetaker 120 credits per hour | monday.com help center, viewed October 2026 |
| Agent billing start | Agents began using credits June 8, 2026 on Pro and below; Enterprise exempt for now | monday.com help center, viewed October 2026 |
| Q1 2026 revenue | $351.3 million, up 24%; net dollar retention 110% | Subscription Insider, May 11, 2026 |
| Large customers | 99 customers above $500,000 in ARR, up 74% from 57 a year earlier | Subscription Insider, May 11, 2026 |
| G2 rating | 4.7 out of 5 from 17,144 reviews of the monday AI Work Platform | G2, viewed October 2026 |
The spread in credit estimates is the number buyers should study. A task that monday.com classes as extra complex can use 25 times the credits of the simplest one, so the same agent can cost very different amounts depending on how its instructions are written and which model it uses.
The growth figures matter for a different reason. Customers above $500,000 in ARR rose 74% in a year, which suggests monday.com is selling deeper into large companies, the same buyers who for now get agents without credit charges on Enterprise.
The AI Agents Tab and Admin-Only Creation
Agents live in the AI Agents tab in monday.com’s left navigation. Only admins can create and manage them, and agents are in gradual release, so not every account sees every feature yet.
Three Ways to Get an Agent
- Expert Agents: prebuilt agents for common end-to-end jobs, such as the CRM AI Lead Agent and CRM Sales Agent.
- Templates and suggestions: the agent template center offers starters, and an “Agents made for you” section suggests agents based on your role and board data.
- Agent builder: start from blank, describe the agent in plain text, then onboard and refine it.
monday.com’s help center also notes that Agent Factory is a separate standalone product outside the main platform, not the in-platform agents covered here.
Building and Triggering an Agent
According to monday.com’s help center, an admin clicks New agents, starts from blank, describes the job, then opens the Brain tab to set instructions, tools, permissions and triggers before activating it. A chat panel beside the agent answers questions, suggests improvements and runs simulations, and a Skill Hub holds reusable skills.
- Mentions or assignments: the agent starts when someone mentions it or assigns it an item.
- Schedules: recurring runs for reports or checks.
- Board events: an item created or a form submitted.
- Outside events: for example, a new email arriving.
What Agents Can Do
Agents can create and update items, assign owners and change statuses; triage, route, escalate and prioritize work; draft messages, send follow-ups and log outcomes; and research and summarize information, with web search as an optional toggle. Connected tools include Gmail, Outlook, Slack, Microsoft Teams, Google Calendar, Salesforce, Google Drive, Stripe, Trello, Pipedrive and Zoom, and agents can talk through WhatsApp, Telegram, Gmail and Slack. Custom MCP servers connect by URL with an access token or API key. A beta feature, Tools on Demand, builds a new integration from a chat request, limited to API-key or token authentication and action-based operations.
Guardrails and What Still Needs a Human
- Scoped access: agents only reach what their creator can, and access can be narrowed to read-only.
- No deletion: monday.com says agents cannot delete items or data from a board.
- Board connection required: an agent without one will not run.
- Ownership: only the owner can add or edit tools; ownership cannot be transferred.
- Audit trail: the Activity tab logs runs, actions and reasoning, and agents can be paused at any time.
People still write the instructions, decide which boards and tools each agent may touch, and check the Activity tab. Changes made during a run apply only to later runs, so a fix to instructions will not rescue a run already under way.
Seats for People and Credits for AI Since May 2026
Since May 6, 2026, new work management accounts buy two things: seats for people and a monthly AI credit bucket for AI features. Seat prices below are from UsagePricing’s analysis of monday.com’s pricing page; credit minimums are from monday.com’s help center.
| Plan | Price | Billing | What’s Included | Limits |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Free | $0 | None | Up to 2 seats | No AI features |
| Basic | $9 per seat per month plus credits | Annual by default; monthly at a smaller discount | Minimum 1,000 AI credits a month | No larger credit buckets listed |
| Standard | $12 per seat per month plus credits | Annual by default | Minimum 2,000 credits; options of 4,000 or 8,000 | 2,000 credits listed at 20 euros a month in Europe |
| Pro | $19 per seat per month plus credits | Annual by default | Minimum 3,000 credits; options up to 20,000 | Agent credit use since June 8, 2026 |
| Enterprise | Custom | Quote | Credits by quote; AI permissions by role | Agents exempt from credits for now |
One credit pool covers every AI feature: agents, AI workflows at 8 credits per run, AI blocks at 8 credits per action, AI Notetaker at 120 credits per hour, and monday vibe app building at a per-message rate set by the model. Agent activity uses only AI credits, not automation or integration runs. If credits run out mid-cycle, the account moves to the next credit bucket without changing seats. Some customers may get introductory discounts, and AI features are not available to free or non-paying NGO accounts.
Run Counts Against monday.com’s Credit Estimates
These scenarios use monday.com’s published seat prices and credit estimates. Run counts are our own illustrative assumptions, and we leave out the dollar price of credits because the help center does not state it.
- A 5-person team on Basic: seats cost $45 a month billed annually, and the 1,000-credit bucket covers 20 to 100 simple agent runs at 10 to 50 credits each, or about 8 hours of AI Notetaker. There are no larger Basic buckets, so heavier use means moving to Standard.
- A 10-person team on Standard: seats cost $120 a month. The 2,000-credit minimum covers about 13 to 40 intermediate agent runs at 50 to 150 credits, or 250 AI workflow runs at 8 credits.
- A 25-person team on Pro: seats cost $475 a month. An intake agent handling 15 requests a working day at about 50 credits each uses 15,750 credits over 21 days, which needs the 20,000-credit bucket rather than the 3,000 minimum.
The variable to watch is task complexity. The same intake agent at 150 credits a run would use three times as much. Clear, specific instructions and turning off unneeded web searches are the two levers monday.com itself recommends.
monday.com AI Agents Compared With Asana AI Teammates, ClickUp Super Agents and Wrike AI Agents
Each of these work management platforms now meters AI agents separately from seats. They differ in what is published and where the meter starts.
| Agent | Starting Price | Free Plan | Main Strength | Main Trade-Off | Best For |
|---|---|---|---|---|---|
| monday.com AI Agents | $9 per seat per month plus a required credit bucket | Limited (no AI) | Board-event triggers and many outside tools, including WhatsApp and MCP | Credit use per run is hard to predict | Business teams running work on boards |
| Asana AI Teammates | Included with paid Asana plans; extra requests $0.50 to $0.60 | No | Teammates that work inside projects and goals | Small included request pool | Cross-functional teams on Asana |
| ClickUp Super Agents | $9 per user per month AI add-on on top of a plan | No | Agents across tasks, docs and chat | Crowded interface and learning curve | Teams that want one workspace for everything |
| Wrike AI Agents | $25 per user per month on Business, billed annually | No (agents need Business or higher) | Prebuilt risk, triage and intake agents with agent chaining | Higher entry price and annual-only Business plan | Mid-market and enterprise project offices |
monday.com has the lowest seat price of the group and the broadest list of outside channels, which suits sales and operations teams. Wrike is built more for formal project offices with risk reporting, and Asana’s request-based meter is simpler to budget. See more in our AI agents for project management and workflow automation guides, or compare Rovo for Jira teams.
Teams Whose Projects Live on monday Boards
- Teams already on monday boards: agents act on the items, statuses and owners the team already uses, so there is no migration.
- Operations teams with request intake: form submissions and new items can trigger agents that triage, route and assign work.
- Sales teams on monday CRM: the prebuilt CRM AI Lead Agent and Sales Agent cover lead work out of the box.
- Teams that live in email and chat: agents can watch incoming email and reply or follow up through Gmail, Slack, WhatsApp or Telegram.
- Enterprise accounts: agents are exempt from credit charges for now, and admins get AI permissions by role.
Free Plan Users and Buyers Needing a Fixed AI Bill
- Free plan users: the Free plan has no AI features.
- Buyers who need a fixed AI bill: credit use per run is an estimate that varies with task, model and instructions.
- Software teams on Jira: Rovo works on the backlog and documentation those teams already keep.
- Teams that need agents to clean up data: agents cannot delete board items.
- Small teams with heavy AI use on Basic: Basic has a single 1,000-credit bucket, so growth means a plan upgrade.
Required Credits and Introductory Offers
- Required credits: new accounts since May 6, 2026 cannot buy seats without a credit bucket, and introductory offers that waive the charge are expected to end.
- Estimates, not prices: monday.com calls its per-task credit ranges directional and says credit usage is subject to change.
- Gradual release: agents are still rolling out, and Preview Mode is referenced in the docs but not currently available.
- Tools on Demand limits: tools built this way support only API-key or token authentication, have no triggers or webhooks, and cannot be edited after they are built.
- Legacy accounts: customers who joined before May 6, 2026 stay on their old model unless they ask to move, so compare like for like.
- Review themes: G2 reviewers mention missing features, a learning curve and costs that rise with team size.
Seat-and-Credit Pricing in First-Quarter Results
- On May 11, 2026, Subscription Insider reported that monday.com linked AI pricing to seats and credits in its first-quarter results, with revenue of $351.3 million, up 24%.
- An analysis of the May 6, 2026 packaging change found seat prices unchanged and a required credit bucket added, with Standard credits listed at 20 euros a month in Europe.
- monday.com’s AI Agents help article sets June 8, 2026 as the start of credit use for agents on Pro plans and below.
Easy Wins for monday Customers, Scored 7.7
For teams that already run their work on monday boards, yes. monday.com AI Agents score 8.9/10 on our scale, with strong marks for ease of setup, integrations and user sentiment. The builder is approachable, the triggers cover the events that matter, and the guardrails, including no deletion and a full activity log, are sensible defaults for agents that touch live work.
Predictability is the area with the most room to grow. Credits are now mandatory, the per-run estimates range widely, and monday.com could add a dollar price per credit to the help center. In our 25-person Pro scenario, one busy intake agent would need the 20,000-credit bucket on its own. Start with one agent on one board, read the Activity tab for two weeks and size the credit bucket from what you see.
Do Agents Cost Extra, and Can They Delete Data
Do monday.com AI Agents Cost Extra?
For accounts created from May 6, 2026, yes. Each paid plan requires a monthly AI credit bucket on top of seats, starting at 1,000 credits on Basic, and agents have used credits since June 8, 2026 on Pro and below. Enterprise agents are exempt for now.
How Many Credits Does a monday.com Agent Run Use?
monday.com estimates about 10 to 50 credits for a simple task, 50 to 150 for intermediate, 150 to 250 for complex and 250 or more for extra complex. Actual use depends on the model, the instructions and how many steps a run takes.
Can monday.com Agents Delete Data or See Private Boards?
No to both, according to monday.com. Agents cannot delete items or data from a board, and they can only reach what their creator can access, which can be narrowed to read-only.
What Is the Difference Between monday.com Agents and Agent Factory?
The agents in this review are built inside monday.com from the AI Agents tab. monday.com’s help center describes Agent Factory as a separate standalone product outside the main platform.
How Do monday.com AI Agents Compare With Wrike AI Agents?
monday.com starts at $9 per seat plus credits and offers more outside channels, including WhatsApp and custom MCP servers. Wrike requires its $25 Business plan or higher and ships prebuilt risk, triage and intake agents for formal project management.
