VIAVI NITRO AI brings agents to two parts of a telecom operator’s work. NITRO AIOps correlates alarms across vendors and network domains, finds root causes, recommends fixes and can run remediation workflows, and VIAVI claims it cuts alarm noise by 90%. AI Experts, launched in June 2026, put task-specific agents inside VIAVI’s wireless test products to automate setup, diagnostics and reporting. It is best for operators with multi-vendor networks and test labs already using VIAVI gear.
VIAVI could help buyers by publishing a pricing guide and more detail on how the agents work and how approvals are handled. For now, pricing is shared in a sales conversation and the public figures are high level. We rate it 7.4/10 on our scale. This review is based on VIAVI’s press releases, brochure and blog, plus operator announcements; we have not used the product.

| AI Experts launch | First addition to the NITRO AI portfolio; Experts for OneAdvisor 800 Wireless, TM500 and TeraVM available now | VIAVI release, June 4, 2026 |
| MWC 2026 | About 30 demonstrations, including closed-loop remediation and a TM Forum Level 4 autonomous network demo | VIAVI blog, February 5, 2026 |
| Company | Nasdaq-listed (VIAV), headquartered in Chandler, Arizona, with a market cap of about $9.6 billion at the time of the TDC NET release | StockTitan, November 19, 2024 |
The operator names matter more than the percentages. TDC NET is Denmark’s largest digital infrastructure provider and uses NITRO AIOps as a central hub across mobile, fiber, coax, core and transport networks. Claro Colombia and Telefonica HISPAM show deployments in Latin America. Those are the references to call, and because they span fixed, mobile and inventory use cases, ask each one which part of the platform it actually runs.
The 90% noise reduction and 30% cost savings come from a brochure, and VIAVI could add the basis and timeframe behind them; until then, treat them as targets to test. Alarm noise reduction is the easiest to verify in a pilot: compare raw alarm counts with correlated incidents over a few weeks.
AIOps for Operations and AI Experts Inside Test Gear
VIAVI’s AI work spans two product families under the NITRO brand. NITRO AIOps runs network operations; AI Experts run inside VIAVI’s test instruments and lab systems.
NITRO AIOps in Network Operations
- Ingest. An agnostic data layer takes in historical and real-time alarms and data from radio, core, IP, transport, microwave, fiber, cloud and data center domains, across vendors.
- Map and correlate. Automated topology mapping and multi-dimensional event correlation group related alarms and cut noise.
- Find the cause. Machine learning identifies root causes and quantifies service and business impact.
- Recommend and act. A dashboard shows next-best-action recommendations, and closed-loop automation can execute remediation workflows and cross-domain methods of procedure.
At MWC 2026, VIAVI showed a TM Forum Level 4 autonomous network demo with intent-based anomaly detection, automated root cause analysis, next-best-action recommendations and validation through a federated digital twin for a mission-critical network slice.
NITRO Location Intelligence
A companion product uses subscriber-centric geolocated data for RAN performance analysis, site optimization, safe site decommissioning and virtual drive testing. VIAVI added an agentic framework that turns plain-language questions into geolocation queries and showed automated RF optimization.
Why Alarm Correlation Comes First
Most of NITRO AIOps’ value depends on the correlation step. A modern operator runs equipment from several vendors across radio, transport, core and cloud, and a single fault can trigger alarms in every layer. By mapping topology automatically and grouping related events, the platform turns many alarms into one incident with a probable cause, which is what lets the later steps, impact scoring, recommendations and automated remediation, work at all. VIAVI positions this against traditional OSS tools that treat each domain separately.
AI Experts in Test and Validation
Each AI Expert contains a curated set of agents that automate configuration, analysis, diagnostics and reporting. The TM500 and TeraVM Experts help lab teams set up and configure tests, triage failures and stay aware of complex test topologies, shortening the time from lab provisioning to validated results. The OneAdvisor 800 Wireless Expert runs on the instrument and gives field engineers guidance drawn from wireless standards, best practices and real-world signal behavior. VIAVI says more Experts will follow across its portfolio.
How Operators Roll It Out
The TDC NET deployment gives a sense of what adoption looks like. Denmark’s largest digital infrastructure provider chose NITRO AIOps as a central hub for network management across multiple vendors and technologies, covering mobile, coax, fiber, core and transport networks, data centers and the wider IT and telecom estate. Capabilities included automated topology mapping, event correlation for root cause identification and AI-driven forecasting, presented in a unified dashboard with next-best-action recommendations. The rollout was part of a broader transformation in which Infosys integrated other vendors, which is typical for carrier operations software and a reminder that NITRO AIOps rarely arrives alone.
Engineers Own Remediation Choices and Pass-Fail Calls
Operations engineers still decide which remediation actions run automatically, handle complex outages and own change management. Test engineers review results and decide whether a device or network passes. VIAVI’s public material does not yet describe approval controls in detail, so ask how closed-loop actions are gated in production.
Two Product Families, Neither With a Price List
VIAVI does not publish prices for either product family.
| Plan | Price | Billing | What’s Included | Limits |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| NITRO AIOps | Custom quote | Enterprise contract | Multi-vendor ingest, correlation, root cause, recommendations, remediation automation | Sales-led; often part of a transformation program |
| NITRO Location Intelligence | Custom quote | Enterprise contract | Geolocated RAN analysis, optimization, natural-language queries | Sales-led |
| AI Experts | Custom quote | With VIAVI products | Agents inside OneAdvisor 800 Wireless, TM500 and TeraVM | Only for VIAVI equipment owners |
Licensing Scale and Module Scope to Settle
Because every deal is quoted, scope the contract carefully. Ask how licensing scales, for example by network elements, domains or data volume, and which modules, such as Location Intelligence, are included. Confirm which remediation actions can run automatically in production today and how they are approved, logged and rolled back. Ask whether AI Experts are included with existing TM500, TeraVM or OneAdvisor 800 licenses or priced separately. Request the basis for the 90% alarm noise and 30% cost savings figures, and reference calls with an operator of similar size and vendor mix.
Payback for a NOC Seeing 10,000 Alarms a Day
Without list prices, the scenarios focus on scope and payback.
Operator with a noisy NOC. If a network operations center sees 10,000 raw alarms a day, VIAVI’s claimed 90% reduction would leave about 1,000 correlated items. Measuring that ratio in a pilot is the simplest way to test value before a large contract.
Comparing with a published price. Kentik, another network intelligence vendor on our site, publishes its Pro platform at $2,000 a month billed annually, or $24,000 a year. VIAVI will be quoted on scope, so use that figure only as a rough floor for an observability tool with AI features.
Hidden and variable costs. TDC NET’s rollout sat inside a larger transformation with Infosys integrating other vendors. Expect integration, data onboarding and systems integrator fees on top of software licenses, and confirm whether AI Experts add cost to existing TM500 or TeraVM contracts.
VIAVI NITRO AI Compared With Selector AI, Kentik AI Advisor and Nokia Autonomous Network Fabric
These rivals also apply AI agents to network operations. Their main differences are data sources and vendor ties.
| Tool | Starting Price | Free Plan | Main Strength | Main Trade-Off | Best For |
|---|---|---|---|---|---|
| VIAVI NITRO AI | Custom quote | No | Multi-vendor AIOps plus agents in wireless test gear | Little public detail on agent behavior | Operators already using VIAVI assurance or test products |
| Selector AI | Custom quote | No | Agents correlating events across network, cloud and apps | No public pricing | Large operators and Fortune 1000 network teams |
| Kentik AI Advisor | $2,000 a month billed annually | No | Published pricing and flow-based network intelligence | Needs network data flowing into Kentik | Service providers already on Kentik |
| Nokia Autonomous Network Fabric | Custom quote | No | Agents for assurance, troubleshooting and radio optimization | Portfolio spread across many product names | Operators with Nokia networks |
VIAVI’s edge is breadth from lab to live network and a vendor-agnostic ingest layer. Selector is the closest pure AIOps rival, Kentik is the only one with published pricing, and Nokia makes most sense on Nokia-heavy networks. For lab triage specifically, B-Yond AGILITY is another option. More choices are on our telecom agents page.
One practical difference is where each tool gets its data. Kentik depends on flow and device telemetry sent to its platform, Selector correlates data across network, cloud and application layers, and Nokia draws heavily on its own network equipment. VIAVI combines a vendor-agnostic AIOps layer with its own test and assurance products, so operators that already use VIAVI probes or lab systems get the most from it.
Multi-Vendor Operators and Alarm-Swamped NOCs
- Multi-vendor operators: NITRO AIOps ingests data across vendors and domains into one view.
- NOC teams overwhelmed by alarms: correlation and root cause analysis target alarm noise directly.
- Wireless test labs on TM500 or TeraVM: AI Experts automate setup and triage inside tools you already run.
- Field teams with OneAdvisor 800: the on-instrument Expert gives guidance during validation, drawing on wireless standards and real-world signal behavior so less experienced engineers can work through complex checks with fewer escalations.
- Operators planning autonomous networks: VIAVI demonstrated TM Forum Level 4 use cases; see also our IT and DevOps agents.
Small ISPs and Operators Wanting Care or Billing Agents
- Small ISPs and enterprises: this is carrier-scale software sold through enterprise contracts.
- Buyers needing published prices: Kentik publishes its platform price.
- Operators wanting customer care or billing agents: Amdocs aOS or Netcracker cover BSS work.
- Labs without VIAVI equipment: AI Experts are designed for VIAVI products, so labs built on other test vendors would use other tools for that work.
- Teams that want detailed agent documentation up front: VIAVI’s public material is high level so far, so ask for technical documentation in the sales process.
Marketing Figures and Demo-Stage Autonomy to Confirm
- Marketing figures: VIAVI could share the basis for its 90% and 30% figures; measure them in a pilot.
- Demo versus production: closed-loop remediation and Level 4 autonomy were shown at MWC; confirm what is in general release.
- Approval controls: ask how automated actions are gated and logged before they touch a live network.
- Integration effort: large deployments may involve systems integrators and other vendors.
- Test agents and VIAVI gear: AI Experts tie value to VIAVI instruments and lab systems.
- User reviews: none are public yet, so rely on operator references such as TDC NET.
- Connectors to your tools: confirm how incidents and recommendations flow into your existing ticketing and OSS systems before rollout.
AI Experts Arrive for OneAdvisor and TM500
On June 4, 2026, VIAVI introduced AI Experts for OneAdvisor 800 Wireless, TM500 and TeraVM, calling them the first addition to its NITRO AI portfolio. On February 5, 2026, VIAVI outlined its MWC 2026 AIOps demos, including closed-loop remediation and a TM Forum Level 4 autonomous network demo. On November 19, 2024, TDC NET selected NITRO AIOps for end-to-end automated monitoring.
Worth Evaluating for Multi-Vendor Operators and VIAVI Labs
For multi-vendor operators that want AI-driven alarm correlation and root cause analysis, and for labs already using VIAVI test systems, VIAVI NITRO AI is worth evaluating. It scores 7.4/10 on our scale. The named operator deployments are real, the vendor-agnostic ingest is a practical strength, and the AI Experts add agents directly to tools engineers already use.
The score reflects how much detail is public today: pricing is not published, the marketing figures are broad and agent controls are lightly documented, and VIAVI could raise its score by publishing more on each. Ask for a pilot scoped around alarm volume and mean time to repair, speak with TDC NET or another reference operator, and get the approval model for automated remediation in writing. A sensible order is to start with alarm correlation in one domain, where results are easy to count, then extend to automated remediation once your team trusts the root cause analysis. Labs that own TM500 or TeraVM can try AI Experts separately, since VIAVI says teams can adopt them incrementally. Compare more options on our telecom agents page.
