Claude Design for Founders and Product Teams
Claude Design builds interactive prototypes, slide decks, one-pagers and social graphics from a chat, and it can read a codebase to copy a product’s existing colors, type and components. Anthropic released it on April 17, 2026, as an Anthropic Labs research preview running on Claude Opus 4.7. When a prototype is ready, Claude packs a handoff bundle that Claude Code can build from with one command.
It fits founders, product managers and marketers who need visual work without a designer on hand, and designers who want to test many directions in an afternoon. Claude’s pricing page lists it on every plan, from Free to Enterprise. We score it 8.9/10 on our scale, led by setup and pricing, with integrations the area most likely to grow.

The useful fact for buyers is the plan list. Most AI design tools charge their own subscription. Claude Design comes with an account many teams already pay for, so the first test costs nothing extra. It also means one admin console, one bill and one set of data settings for chat, code and design. The funding and revenue figures matter for a different reason: a research preview from a company with this much capital is likely to keep getting work, though features may change before a general release.
How a Claude Design Project Moves
Setting Up a Design System
Point Claude at a codebase or upload design files, and it pulls out the colors, typography and components into a design system. New projects then follow those rules. Agencies and companies with several brands can keep multiple systems and pick one per project.
Starting a Prototype, Deck or One-Pager
A brief can be a few lines of text, a screenshot, a Word outline, a PowerPoint draft or a spreadsheet. The web capture tool grabs parts of a live site, which helps when a new page has to sit beside existing ones. Anthropic’s stated uses include turning static mockups into clickable prototypes, wireframing features, building pitch decks from outlines and making landing pages and social graphics.
Revising Without Starting Over
Changes happen in four ways. You can chat, leave inline comments on parts of the design, edit text or elements directly, or use sliders that Claude creates for spacing, color and layout. The sliders suit small tweaks that are hard to describe in words. Comments work well for team review, since a manager can mark one card or headline and Claude changes only that part.
Frontier Designs With Code Underneath
Some prototypes run on code, which Anthropic calls Frontier Designs. These can include voice, video, shaders, 3D graphics and built-in AI, so a product demo can behave like the real feature. A sales team could, for example, show a voice feature working inside a prototype before engineers write it.
Sharing and the Claude Code Handoff
Files can stay private, be shared for viewing or opened for editing inside the organization. Several editors can work in one group conversation with Claude. When the design is approved, Claude bundles it for Claude Code, which builds it from one command.
Claude Plans That Include Claude Design
| Plan | Monthly Price | Annual Price | Usage Level |
|---|---|---|---|
| Free | $0 | $0 | Limited, resets every 5 hours and weekly |
| Pro | $20 | $17 a month ($200 up front) | Baseline |
| Max | $100 | Billed monthly | 5x Pro |
| Ultra | $200 | Billed monthly | 10x Pro weekly |

| Team Premium | $125 per seat | $100 per seat | 5x Standard |
| Enterprise | Not listed | $20 per seat, 20-seat minimum | Usage billed at API rates |
Design work counts against the same limits as chat and Claude Code across web, desktop and mobile. The Decoder reported that users who reach the limit can continue with extra usage.
Seat Costs for Three Common Buyers
We worked out annual costs from Claude’s published prices.
| Buyer | Setup | Annual Cost |
|---|---|---|
| Solo founder | 1 Pro seat billed annually | $200 |
| Five-person product team | 5 Team Standard seats billed annually | $1,200 |
| Same team with one heavy designer | 4 Standard plus 1 Premium, billed annually | $2,160 |
| Mid-size company | 20 Enterprise seats at the minimum | $4,800 plus API-rate usage |
A solo founder pays $200 a year on annual Pro, against $240 when billed monthly. The five-person team pays $100 a month at annual rates, or $125 when billed monthly. These seats also cover chat, Claude Code and Cowork, so the design cost is shared with other work.
A Seed-Round Pitch Deck Built in Claude Design
To show how the documented features fit together, here is the path a founder would take to build an investor deck and a product demo in one sitting. Each step uses a feature Anthropic described at launch.
Step One: Load the Brand
The founder links the product’s codebase. Claude reads the stylesheet and components and saves a design system with the brand colors, fonts and button styles. Every slide and screen after this follows those rules without extra prompting.
Step Two: Turn the Outline Into Slides
The founder uploads a Word outline with the problem, market size, traction and ask. Claude drafts a deck in the brand style. The founder leaves inline comments on two slides, asks in chat for a cleaner market chart, and nudges the title spacing with a slider.
Step Three: Add a Clickable Demo
Using the web capture tool, the founder pulls the current signup page into a prototype and asks Claude to add the new feature the round will fund. Now a clickable flow sits beside the deck.
Step Four: Export and Hand Off
The deck goes out as a PPTX for the lead investor and a PDF for the data room. The demo is shared by internal link with the co-founder, who edits it in the same group conversation. When the team decides to build the feature, the handoff bundle goes to Claude Code.
On a Pro plan, all of this sits inside the $17 a month annual price, subject to usage limits. The founder pays no separate design subscription, though a long session may run into the five-hour cap.
Claude Design Compared With Stitch, Figma and v0
We compared it with three design and prototyping agents listed on our site, using each vendor’s published plans.
| Agent | Entry Price | Free Option | Main Strength | Main Limit |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Claude Design | Pro $17/month billed annually | Yes | Design systems from code and Claude Code handoff | Research preview; shares usage limits |
| Stitch by Google | Free | Yes, daily credits | No cost for UI concepts | Daily credit caps; extra credits cannot be bought |
| Figma Design Agent | Professional full seat $16/month annually | Starter with 500 credits | Works inside the file teams already share | AI use draws on monthly credits |
| v0 by Vercel | Plus $30 per user/month | Yes, $5 one-time credits | Ships React code to Vercel | Credit pool can run out on large apps |
Stitch costs nothing and suits early UI ideas. Figma keeps the agent inside a shared file, which matters for teams with an existing design library. v0 goes straight to deployed code. Claude Design covers decks and one-pagers as well as screens, and it reuses a design system pulled from code, which none of the other three do in the same way. For teams that mostly need slides, Gamma Agent is another option with a free plan. Our design agents page lists more options, including Lovart for brand graphics.
Who Gets the Most From Claude Design
Early-stage founders can turn an outline into a pitch deck and a clickable demo in the same tool, then send the demo to Claude Code. Product managers can wireframe a feature in the product’s own style before asking for design time. Marketers can make landing pages and social graphics that match the brand rules stored in the design system.
Agencies with several clients can store one design system per client. A team already on Claude Team gets it at no extra cost, so the trial is a matter of an admin switching it on.
Web agencies may get the most from the code link. A designer can build the client’s page in the client’s own design system, share it for comment by internal link, and pass the approved version to a developer who uses Claude Code. That keeps one record of the design from first draft to build, and the agency can see our web agency agents list for tools that host and maintain the finished site.
Teams That May Hold Off on Claude Design
Design teams that ship final assets from a shared vector library will still need their main design app for production work. Companies that need a long list of plugins and handoff tools may want to wait for the integrations Anthropic said were coming. Heavy users on Pro may also hit usage caps on busy days, since design shares limits with chat and coding.
Regulated companies should also check where shared links can travel. Sharing is limited to the organization, which suits internal review, but external clients will receive exported files and need the same review as any other draft.
Preview Status and Usage Caps at Claude Design
Claude Design is a research preview, so features and limits can change. In organizations it starts switched off, and an admin has to enable it. The Decoder reported that Enterprise customers would not get access right away at launch, so large companies should confirm availability with their account team. At launch, Anthropic said integrations with other tools would arrive in the following weeks, so the export list may change.
Usage limits reset every five hours and weekly, and they are shared across products. A day of heavy prototyping can leave less room for coding later. Capterra reviewers of Claude also mention errors in long sessions, so check generated copy and numbers on any slide before it goes to a client or investor.

Our Read on Claude Design at 8.9 Out of 10
Claude Design scores 8.9 out of 10 on our scale. Setup and pricing rate highest because it opens in a browser on plans many teams already have. Autonomy rates well for a design tool: it builds full drafts and a code handoff from one brief, while people still choose and refine. Integrations have the most room to grow, with Canva and Claude Code as the main links today.
For a first test, give it the same brief your team used for a recent deck or landing page and compare the two results side by side. That shows quickly how close it gets to your standard.
Watch three things during the test: whether the design system matched your brand without manual fixes, how many revision rounds the deck needed, and how much of the five-hour usage window the project used. Those numbers tell you if Pro is enough or if a Team or Max plan fits better.
